If you could move to your favorite place in the U.S. where would you go?

I noticed that only a couple of folks indicated interest in moving to Wyoming.
That's fortunate because the Governor recently declared us closed to all further incoming people.

We're plumb full. :rolleyes::D

Picturesque and serene as that might look I couldn't live there as I have seen your pics of the kind of of snakes you folks grow out there.

I lived in the BItterroote about 35-40 years ago IT WAS a great place. Now 93 is a solid stream of cars, every piece of land is divided in to 1-5 acre "ranches". It has become a great location to sit an outhouse. IMHO

Years ago we considered moving to Hamilton or Darby Montana
That was about six years ago before we moved to Prescott Valley Arizona. And since that time the Bitterroot Valley has exploded and house prices are beyond belief even more so than they have become in the Prescott area.

I think the remoteless of the Salmon Idaho area is what’s keeping the growth to a minimum although it’s getting its share of the Californian migration.

I'm happy here just off the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert. I'm a desert lover at heart. I'll visit the shore, but I wouldn't want to live there. I also don't like cold much, so I'll keep the altitude on the lower side of 5000' other than for visits.

I'm thinking now of a friend who got his divinity degree from Duke University. He told me he was claustrophobic the whole time he was there for not being able to see the horizon thanks to all the trees. Like him, I prefer my trees in moderation.

A fellow from Kansas told me the same thing. I look at it a different way. In the wide open spaces I can walk all day and still be in sight. In mountains and and trees within minutes I can be out of sight and nobody knows where I am. It just depends on how a persons mind works. :D Larry

Funny another post kinda turned into this conversation last weekend. My wife and I live in western NY. We love everything about it except that it’s NY. We have a beautiful home that li built on 5 acres with 4 tree stands and a 200 yd range. Yet I’m 15 min from International airport and 25 min from 2 professional sports stadiums. I’ve got all the fishing and boating I could possibly want. Great Lakes and Finger Lakes. We also have a cabin about 2hrs south of us where I hunt 100 private acres. That said……….. we have an exit plan. We purchased our winter place back in 2015. Waterfront Naples Florida with brand new 30ft dock. Now we are on the hunt for our “other” place. We love the Blue Ridge Mts. So probably somewhere between N Carolina and West Virginia. We’re leaning heavily towards the Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia. We have a great familiarity with it as we visit often. Both my parents were originally from there. My wife can have any house she wants but I have to be able to walk out the door and hunt. It’s only fair if I’m selling the cabin to relocate. Probably do 7 months there and 5 in Florida. We love the fall but have both come to hate winter. So I guess for us , there are 2 best places.

I am already here and have been my whole life.
Idaho is darned hard to beat. So much variety of scenery, recreational opportunity.
But, Boise and the entire Treasure Valley area is becoming hard to handle. Too many people and they just keep coming.
I don’t blame them as I have seen where they are coming from.

I'd stay right here in middle Tennessee. As long as it doesn't change to much from all the people moving here from California.
Yep! I've spent my entire life where I want to be. I just wish the rest of the world hadn't found out about it.

We may look into moving out to California once they all get here.:D

My Aunt and Uncle lived in Farmington NM.

When they would come back East to visit, my Uncle would say "too much green". He was born and raised in NM. He met my Aunt during WWII.

The only green he was accustomed to was the green on a golf course.

My favorite place U.S.A.

Anchorage Alaska! Great fishing, lots of wildlife, absolutely beautiful mountains, and when you get stressed, strap on your model 29 and your backpack and head for the "Bush", you can see it from your house! A real place where you can experience real freedom.

My favorite place would be either Monterey or San Luis Obispo. The problem is that both places are in The People's Republic of California. I love California, I miss the California of my childhood, and I am saddened by what California has become. So I guess I'll just stay at my place in the Carson Valley of Nevada, near Carson City and the little town of Minden. I can look out my window to see the snow-covered Sierra Nevada Mountains and know that just over the crest is Lake Tahoe.

I have no plans to leave Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
It's beautiful here and there are a lot more trees than
people. (The way I like it,eh?)

The winters are long but I can (still) stand them.
The rest of the year is fine, and even finer when
brook trout fishing starts in April, and hunting
seasons start in the fall.

My wife was born and raised until we got married in the upper peninsula in iron Mountain Michigan she has family in Crystal Falls and other places including upper Wisconsin and the Green Bay area. Can’t say that I’m real fond of the place in the winter because I had to work outside and construction but if I had a different career it may have been more tolerable. But it does have some incredible beauty and fishing/hunting opportunities that are pretty darn cool!

I lived in the UP in iron Mountain/Kingsford for about five years after graduating high school and moving up there from the south. Some good memories for sure!

Sandpoint, ID.

I'm aching to get out of WA. Even though I live around people with values similar to my own, the Seattle area and their views dominate the state.

THREEDFLYER: I'll be interested to hear where you're headed!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the wet-siders have already overrun Sandpoint.

It is becoming more and more like San Francisco and soon to be Oakland.

However, if you are in the vicinity, stop by the Hoot Owl in Ponderay for a very tasty breakfast. Here is your's truly doing just that.

All those Californians moving east to red states? Doing so because they want to get out of a blue state. So maybe best not to paint them all with the same brush.
