If you could move to your favorite place in the U.S. where would you go?

All those Californians moving east to red states? Doing so because they want to get out of a blue state. So maybe best not to paint them all with the same brush.

I don't know about the people from California but it seems many of the South bound that we get bring their ideas with them. One day at the gun club range my 12 yr. old grandson was shooting a K22. A guy had his son about that age that was not shooting and the man wanted to know how old my grandson was. I said 12 and he acted kind of huffy and said he was from New York and you had to be 14 to shoot. I told him we were not in New York and didn't have plans to go. It hurt my feelings and broke my heart but he didn't have anything else to say to me. Larry

It is nigh on impossible to be born and raised in a sewer and expect to get out without a stink.

I’m from NY, you have nothing to fear.

Same thing that happens here that’s why we have stickers on our vehicles saying don’t California our Arizona!

People leave a place for a reason and then they forget when it comes to voting for some reason!

Our local radio station is constantly trying to remind people that move here to remember why they left where they came from! Unfortunately even our Second Amendment county of Yavapai county is turning purple!

The panhandle, Lewiston and the Boise area are absolutely being inundated by folks trying to get away from whatever situation they’re fleeing. I have many friends that have moved to the Post Falls and Hayden Lake areas and the prices have become just about what they are in the places they left as far as real estate goes.

Of course Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah are feeling the effects as well.

Wanted to update this thread since it's been about two months since I posted......

I did a trip up to Salmon, Idaho at the end of March to put a load of stuff in a storage unit.

I had just over a week to spend up there an in that time I was able to get my under-slab plumbing in and inspected and about a week ago my Amish friend poured the slab.

Our home goes up on the MLS tomorrow (Weds) here in Prescott Valley and hopefully will get some quick action on the place. The only caveat being that we need to stay in the house until at least the end of July to give me time to get back to Salmon and get the project going at full speed.

My last day with my company here in Prescott will be May 20th then I load up a couple of trailers and head back north to start the framing portion of the project.

Needless to say plenty of nervous/anxiety with all that is taking place but we are feeling good about the move and looking forward to what's ahead.

I'll be making several trips between Prescott Valley and Salmon in the weeks ahead and will post a few updates as I am able with a few photos.

If it wasn't getting prohibitively expensive due to movie stars and Hollywierds invading, I would choose Jackson Hole Wyoming. There is nothing affordable there now, and it's turning blue.
As it is, with the family homesteading here over a 100 years ago and both of us growing up and living in the land of gentle breezes of SE Wyoming all our lives, I guess Itchy and I will stay where we are.

If it was just me, I would live is southern Mo. Ozarks where my brother lives. Woods and water hunt, fish, people respect your privacy. Cost of living is pretty good. BUT no way would the wife live there. So north Texas is pretty good. Luckily, we got out here 6 years ago and bought out in the boonies cause now this place is filling up and becoming expensive. No way could we afford our place today 35 acres and the buildings. We added a barn and a covered arena. Made a nice horse facility for my wife's hobby. I really like the little horses before they get too big. They are so inquisitive.
There are some good woods with deer, turkeys, pigs, coyotes and bobcats to hunt. I don't bother the cats, but they are cool to watch. I was going to build a range and then discovered a great gun club 10 minutes from the house 100 bucks a year and you get your own key. Plus, I get to make some friends. So this place is fine with me...

I'd move into the Jim Beam distillery. With the price of gas being so high, it's costing a fortune to drive to the liquor store!

We're at home here. There's no place to "move away" to in America anymore. Atlantic ocean 1 hour East, Gulf 2 hrs West. FWC range 30 miles East in the middle of nowhere. Yes, unrestricted growth has made traffic intolerable (roads don't pay taxes, housing does). House is paid for, don't owe anyone a dime. It would be nice to have a place at "high elevation" to live June-September. My son has 5 acres East of Colorado Springs @6500ft, I'd like to plop a single wide on his South fenceline for just such an occasion. Some day maybe. Joe

Oh I forgot to mention one important note about my trip back a few weeks ago from Prescott to Salmon Idaho. I drove 2400 miles there and back pulling a trailer behind my 1/2 ton Dodge pickup and spent $1150 in fuel round-trip. Almost double what I spent the last time I made a run there and back. Thank you sleepy Joe!!!

Wow! A few trips up and back and you could of bought a RM. 😂
I would imagine the moving company’s have raised they’re rates because of fuel too.
Here’s hopping the price of fuel goes down soon to help everyone.

We're driving from AZ to WI for my nephew's wedding in September, and taking our camper and towing the Jeep because we're spending a few days in Yellowstone on the way home. I expect that to take ~400 gallons of diesel. I'm not looking forward to the cost of that trip.
