I'm scared!!!!!!!!!!! HELP

Sorry. I just have to laugh at southerners talking about snow and cold.
...and I get a chuckle at the Northers who say they are used to that junk.:)
It's like us and the heat. We cope, we adjust and take precautions.
Sometimes you have no choice. Fixing a car on 140 deg. pavement stinks.
We play what we're dealt, no reason to poke fun.

No snow but maybe a squall line in a couple hours.
Hope the busy work at the plant is done by then.

I was in high school when it snowed in Miami right around the time Jimmy Carter was inaugurated. Started frozen and wet then fined up into tiny flakes like dandruff. Some accumulation was noted from the Palm Beaches north but the only place it showed here seemed to be in the Afros.

Can't recall the last frost down here and it's been years since I could catch the whiff of snow carried on the wind.

We are slated to get freezing temps Sunday AM in the middle of the night; 30-31 depending on who you look at. Time to protect my basil and eggplant I guess.

White stuff is fluffy, and you can even drive in it. But when it turns into that hard, slippery stuff, watch out. When it gets iced up around here people drive faster to get out of it quicker.

Call it snow, ice whatever. I still don't like it. Not even in drinks.

2 exceptions. Cuba libre and gin tonic.:p

Well sun is out and shining and I expect the snow will be gone by noon. Yesterday was a fun magical day for me. The snow was absolutely beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around and taking pictures. Based on Augus' reaction to the snow, I suspect a lot of dogs yesterday made the decision to either hold it or **** in the house :D Made a nice corn and crab bisque last night and enjoyed the warmth of the furnace :D
Today it's back to normal with memories of a really nice treat! Think I might even go up to Lafayette for the gun show!

My husband's height translated into Portuguese is 198cm.

When we travel in Europe, with so many of it's guest beds equipped with both headboards and footboards, we often need to disassemble and reassemble beds so that he fits with his feet hanging off. He sometimes feels like Gulliver in the land of Lilliputians.

Just round it up to 2 meters or 6 1/2'.:D

Good to hear you survived your snowmageddon.
And enjoyed it!

You mean because it isn't 21 December yet? Mother Nature sends winter on her schedule, not according to what is marked on our calendars.

Winter was set by Man. It starts on the 21December.

Mother Nature has her own calender. And I don't know the names. I guess no one does.

Cold temps in the PNW but no snow in town. Only one snowstorm so far. The hills have a dusting but no real accumulation. Passes are all open.

The French Marines have a saying for that term, but the mods are probably wise to it by now, so I shant post it. :D

Ok, remain calm (deep breathes). Snow isn't fatal Caj (usually), but it does require some prep work and forethought. The essentials like toilet paper, pet food and scotch top the list of must haves. Don't sweat the first 16 to 18 inches. Those levels are status quo and all activities still have a green light. Once you hit 36 inches it's time to think about letting your wife walk the dog. She should also shovel the driveway so the pizza guy can get to you easier. It's suggested, but not mandatory to use 4 wheel drive at this point in case she needs to go pick up the pizza. After 4' you won't be called out as a "wuss" for cancelling your weekly bowling league. However, if your local pub is within 5 miles, your dart league will still be a go. Anything over 5 foot you probably ok to concede that Mother Nature owns you and go sledding. A flask of blackberry brandy is mandatory for any outdoor excursions at this point.
I hope this helps.

For those of you not familiar with that are of the country, Brother K is only slightly exaggerating. I grew up about .5 mile from the point at which the Genesee River flows into Lake Ontario, and that has driven my mindset about snow and plowing for the roughly 40 years I have lived elsewhere.
On the other hand, I dislike freezing rain intensely and more often than not go full sissy with regard to the possibility of driving in it.

I feel for you folks in nastyland. It was just another normal day here in Phoenix. Sunglasses pretty much mandatory...

I was hoping you would be posting a genuine Cajun recipe for Donner Party Gumbo. Sounds like the snow drifts on the bayou melted too fast to perfect the dish.

Well, tomorrow the high will be either 59 or 60 (the weather guys can't decide which. I don't understand that-just pick one like they do the temps and forecast for the rest of the year).

Wind will be from the North at about 10MPH and my wife, my friend and I will be outside shooting trap. You try to focus on, and kill, the little orangy creatures, but the wind makes your eyes tear and you hear the dreaded, hated words shouted by the scorekeeper, "LOST!" Drat! Missed again!

It's a tough life, living in Floriduh and shooting in this monstrous, glacial cold, but we'll try to do it.

Bob

2" here

time to call up the guys, light a bon fire, christen a jug of last year's hard cider and roast up some fresh venison sausage. The dogs will be yipping it up and the inexperienced will be losing their standing dexterity due to cider

Jeez. With this kind of whining about a bit of flurries, it sounds just like here in the Ingrown Northwest.

Yeah, the weather weenies on the wet side...

My wife grew up there, and she, her mother and her sister always stayed home from work whenever snow was even in the forecast.

No wonder, even an inch of snow would shut down the entire town.

Spokane, not so much. A fair portion of the folks over here know how to handle it and they public works departments are prepared for it.
