Is Smith going to produce new trigger parts for all M&P's?

I hear you guys say the Shield has an awesome trigger and the entire M&P line will probably get an upgrade.

Can we just order parts from S&W? Like a USB and sear?

Any idea if they are producing these parts now?

I like my triggers except for the bit of grittiness they have.

I would think not since Apex Tactical has already defined that space with superior products, customer service at price points S&W could not match.

I talked to a S&W tech and he told me he has no idea of any changes with the M&P trigger group being made at all. I told him I've heard about the possibility of new trigger groups in the M&Ps to have a more positive reset and he once again, said that if anyone knew about it, they would since they are the techs/gunsmiths that are answering the phones.

He also told me they knew about the Shield a year before it was introduced so if anything about a new trigger group was in the works, they haven't heard about it so as of right now, no plans are in the works for any changes to the regular M&P line.

Thanks Nakanokalronin!

I have heard rumors, but you know how those are. And they made sense that if S&W put a better trigger in the Shield, why not have parts available for the rest of the M&P line? Isn't the trigger the only bad thing about the M&P?

I might try an Apex USB.

Take what the tech told me as what it is. They could know nothing or maybe they were told not to mention anything. Then again, they could even be out of the loop.

Shipwreck reminded me on another forum about the Beretta 92 Compact. When the Beretta 92 Compact was being imported back to the states after a 12 year hiatus, BUSA reps would tell you over the phone that they had no idea of any Compacts coming in. They would be the first to know since they would be doing the importing, but the Compacts did indeed show up.

Basically, take what the tech told me with a grain of salt. New triggers could be coming ,but it's really not an issue since Apex parts exist that will give you an equal or better trigger than what S&W may or may not have coming out.

Is the Pro line still offered? How does the trigger in the Pro compare? Maybe S&W wants you to pay up a bit for the Pro line to get the better trigger?

I have a feeling they'd probably want to sell out of most current stock before announcing a better trigger is on the way -- just a guess tho.

I had that same thought too. I'm sure they don't want to announce a new trigger and watch their sales take a nose dive from people wanting to wait.

I also think the tech would have to be pretty tight lipped too as seen in how much the shield was a secret.

Not sure what the problem is with the M&P trigger. My 40c is great.
My M&P40c trigger is great too. Wouldn't wanna change it at all for a carry gun. The pull on my FS M&P40 however is much stiffer (harder pull) I'll be getting Apex parts for it. These guys made some good points about new pistols coming with the "improved trigger" (cause if that's the case, I'll wait to get my FS 9mm) I need another 9mm like I need a whole in the head. Picking up my new 92FS Friday! That makes the tenth 9mm in my collection!

Gentlemen, If I might.
It appears that the Shield has a bigger, somewhat stiffer trigger return spring in it. The rest of the Shield's trigger parts appear to be standard M&P style, save for the size of the Shield. I believe that the trigger return spring will fit in standard M&P's. If this is so, I plan to use them in my FS M&P's. Of course, you can't get something for nothing, so I imagine that the spring substitution will cause the std FS M&P trigger to be a tad stiffer. That is not a problem for me, although some may not care for it. Just thought I would let everybody know. And I could be wrong about all of it. FWIW.
Thanx.

My Pro is lighter and has a more positive reset than my non-pro M&Ps...
