K-38 ISP reunited with box

In milsurp circles, especially with Japanese collecting and Enfield collecting, it is common for people to participate in a sniper scope matching service, where people put mismatched or orphaned scopes up to try and mate them back with their rifles. Same thing for rifle bolts.

The box matching is very, very cool. A homecoming of sorts!

I had a Canadian Long Branch No.4 T that I tracked down the original numbers matching scope for. Unfortunately the owner wasn't too keen on selling the scope so I ended up selling him the rifle as I felt they needed to be back together.

Pretty cool when it actually works out.

On the Colt forum one of the members has a K38 5" shipped to Long Beach in 1962- one of some 24 similar configured revolvers. Is anyone aware of these guns and were they for LEO?

I have shown the gun here before, but for a refresher, it is a Model 14-2 in the high K551,000 S/N range and shipped to American Wholesale Hardware Co. in Long Beach CA on 1/13/64.
In the letter from Mr. Jinks he refers to it as part of a "Special Production Barrel Length Order" of 24 identical guns. I bought it at a gun show here in Sou Cal about 15 years ago and there are 23 more of them out there somewhere. 24 of them sure sounds like an agency order of some type. American Wholesale Hardware Co. must have been a fairly large distributor, I also have several Rugers that lettered to them from the 1960's.
