M&P 15-22 Picture Thread

Here is my 15-22 getting cozy with my Mossberg 500. The M&P has a forearm-grip, Panasonic red-dot, green laser, tac-light and the SBIS's on the right-side rail. I like to use 4-ball/1-tracer loadings in my mags just for the memories!

Got my new 15-22 Saturday! Only mods are a Maglight XL200 and ladder rail covers. Got to keep it simple for a while. The light gives a good view for a solid 150-200 yards.

Why is your light on the bottom? It would be more ergonomic to have it on the side rail. You can activate it with your thumb then.

Good start keeping it simple to start off with. But you show early signs of "gadget-itis"

I have a very bad case of it.

Well first off, it fits better in the soft case like that. When I walk out at night I turn it on and leave it on, so I don't need to be able to quickly activate it. On the bottom the beam seems to fall right in the sights. But things may change.

From a CQB perspective, this is the instructed position - either top or bottom. The reason for this is that your light shines parallel to the barrel, while not reflecting off of things like door frames or corners that the barrel would naturally be close to during room clearing. Thumb button wasn't an issue as we used pressure switches.

With that said, mine is mounted on an offset mount in the 1:00 position off the side rail so I can activate the thumb button....

And if you're clearing rooms with a 15-22, you have a STRANGE hobby. (And possibly a short-lived hobby.)

Not really, that's pretty much IDPA 3-gun matches right there.

And I was always taught 10:30 ish mount for light. Directly below is ok, for some applications, but the shadow it throws means important things can be in darkness. But a thumb activated unit directly below is hard to use.

Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand what shadow would result from mounting a light under the barrel. A 150+ lumen light mounted to the side reflecting off a white doorframe will temporarily effect your vision in total darkness. Just saying that in my opinion, the 6:00 position creates the least amount of problems overall. You realize we've completely hijacked the Picture Thread...:D

I just got one that is mounted in the top of the forward grip and is very easy for my thumb to hit the on/off button.

Decided to do some Mark-Deco work on my 15-22 with some Sharpie extra fine point paint pens.....and since this is nothing but a fun gun I used a little red. :o

Only did this, left everything else alone.....for now.

What's that you have on the rifle on the two pin holes above the trigger?

I believe they are non rotating pins, possibly trigger pins.

Basically it means the pins can't and won't work free ever. They have to be removed with tools that aren't punches.

Kayback is right. That is the KNS Gen 2 set. They install in no time and work well.

+4 on the KNS pins.

I've never had FCG pins break on an AR but I did have a problem with the trigger spring jumping out of the grove on the pin and both pins falling out of my 15-22.

NDZ offers custom laser engraving. They'll put on whatever you ask them to. It is not sold as a Magpul device.

They put the MagPul logo on a knockoff part?

It's not a "knockoff" part. It's similar in look and function to the MagPul BAD lever, but not identical, by any means. It's made expressly for the 15-22 and won't work on a AR15. The BAD lever won't work on a 15-22 without modification.

Do you consider every M4-style firearm a "knockoff" of a Colt? :)

NDZ does not sell "B.A.D." levers; they sell a Speed Bolt Release. The two are not identical, BTW.

That's correct SBR are sold by NDZ, my posting was kind of confusing. But both devices serve the same function, I own both and both are great products.
