Sometimes projects turn out all-right, or even better.

Had this one done some years back, not sure if I've shown it before, if so - sorry - hope you enjoy it in any case....

How it started, standard M610, internal issues, action needed work, etc.
Had all the right things for me, obviously a M610-1, round butt gripframe, old style cylinder stop/frame lug, new style rear sight assembly. It also had things I wasn't looking for, non-fluted cylinder, 6 1/2" barrel, target hammer/trigger.

Took awhile to round up flash chromed parts, found someone to flute the cylinder, was able to find a 3 7/8" barrel from S&W, Spegel grips (of course). I did mention it was awhile back, the work (other than the cylinder fluting, Scott at SDM handled that) was done by the S&W PC, I'm guessing it was about 5-6 years back, maybe longer.... memory isn't what it used to be.
The PC installed the barrel, the flash chromed standard (combat) hammer/trigger, smoothed the action, bead blasted the whole thing, and I'm happy to say it turned out "just right".

Craig Spegel made up a nice pair of RB extended Boot grips and a pair of RB to SB short Targets, both in Cocobolo wood, pretty happy with both, now I can put on whatever pair I'm in the mood for... :)

Oh Yeah, bonus, the 3 7/8" barrel had the Classic front sight assembly, so changing the front sight to what I need/like takes only a matter of seconds.

Here's what the factory should have made..... :D

I could agree with this statement 100% except for the bead blasted finish I have a 625 JM with this finish and have found that if you even look at it cross eyed you'll have a rub mark. S&W really should look at the finish that Ruger is putting on their SR1911, because that is a finish you can knock around a good bit and not leave even a hint of a mark.

The finish may not be for everyone.
I chose it because:
1- I like it, and
2- it was the finish specified by the Customs Service, for the M686 CS-1, they wanted a finish they could re-do easily, making the finish/platform a long term proposition.

I'm not familiar with the Ruger finish, but the fact that with a simple re-bead blast, the finish on this can easily be returned to a near "factory' look, it seems like a good plan, and - did I mention I like it... :)

I'll need to go look at the SR1911 finish, where would I find that... :D

625 Finish

My 625PC seems to have a more semi gloss than bead blast - but it does take on rub marks from Kydex holsters - that bothered me enough that I went to a leather shop and bought some thin leather and bonded it to the inside surfaces of the holster that I use the most often. No more rub marks and it is silent when the gun is drawn from the holster.

My 627PC has what I would call a true bead blast surface (more like the OP gun) and it does not seem to pick up any rub marks - at least not the way that the 625 does.

SmithNut, you sir have impeccable taste.

610-2 with a few mods including swapping the 3" barrel for a 4", also fluted the cylinder, ball/detent lockup, if you look close you can see where the front of the cylinder has been chamfered. I am much more fond of SB grips so it wears RB to SB conversion grips. :)
