Never shot a "Glock"

Not only had I never shot a Glock, but I'd never even owned a 9X19 till 2008'? The .45ACP and .38 Super were in the 1911' and that was that. I watched as wheel guns were replaced by I think the Model 39(?) S&W with the Illinois State Police. (God only knows what they and every other department uses by now, but it's probably an E/U import of some kind?) Again, I thought it "weird" and got back down into my comfy little 1911' ditch. Time marched on, as did technology. Carbon fiber replaced aluminum in aircraft, polymers replaced metal for gun frames and last but not least, computers replaced people in everything. In this brave new world I was resolute, no G word for me! Well that all changed when I finally figured out last September, what the following first Tuesday in November was going to bring. And I figured now or never for a hi-cap carry gun. BHP, fine gun but too heavy. Custom hi-cap 1911', doable but it also, too heavy. So 20-25 years after the fact, I came to plastic. Tried the various G's in 9X19 & .40 S&W. None had the ergonomics of a 1911' for grasp, but they were around and been found tried and true. Had the M&P line not evolved with it's more useful (to me) grip area with replaceable inserts, I'd likely be running one of the half plastic Sig's? I rented all I could find of all 3 prior to deciding what shot best for me. The Glocks aren't glamorous, comfortable nor attractive in the slightest. One could argue too, few current examples of anything are? They're just a solid known quantity that doesn't break easily. In that role they're fine.

I have a Glock 22 & a Glock 27 and I know they will go bang when called upon... Trust what you want... I trust my Glocks

I shot a lot of other people's GLOCKs before I decided to buy one for myself. That was five years ago.

Prior to that day, all the handguns I owned were blued steel, and only a very few were not a S&W revolver.

The day I bought my first GLOCK I was doing show and tell at work with all the "gun guys" hanging around. They couldn't believe that I had bought a plastic pistol. "Why the hell did you get a GLOCK?" was their unanimous reaction.

"Cuz I need a pistol that I can do this to and not care..."

And I held it over my head and dropped my brand new handgun. It actually felt pretty good to do that. That same week I bought my very first AR-15 to go along with my hunting rifles. And my wife bought me a Springfield XD .45 the day after that. So after 30-years of traditional guns I transitioned to owning three black plastic firearms in just seven days. Whew!

The G29 has been my EDC gun since that time. It's performed perfectly without flaw. I've bought another GLOCK since then and will be buying a third very soon.
