Never shot a "Glock"

Back in '86 or '87 (don't remember exactly), Glock had sort of a traveling dog and pony show for LEOs and civil administrators to show off their product. A friend of mine (now sadly down the road) was an assistant DA at the time and invited me to go along. We sat through their demonstration (no PowerPoint, thank God) and then every one got to shoot one magazine out of a Glock 17. I was amazed I could find the paper with what I thought was the worst trigger I had ever experienced.

As we drove back to Houston, I remember saying "We will never hear from these people again".

This explains why I am not rich.

I have a few plastic guns and carry a glock daily. One of the reasons is it's plastic and I don't have to worry about what happens to it as far as a rainy day, sweating, etc. Just wipe it off when you get home and it's ready for the next day.

Has anyone handled one of the glocks with the new grip? I've seen one recently somewhere, and it looked to be a slight improvement over the current one. If I could have one I would get the nineteen, I like it 's ability to conceal, with a lot of firepower.

Have 2 of the newer models. They're great and you don't have to buy the Hogue HANDALL ® for 'em!

I've already said I own one or more Glocks and they shoot well. I'm just posting this reply to run up my post count. Oh yeah, I'm sure I'll buy another in the future if the money is right. I'd rather buy and M&P or XD but if the money is right I'll buy another Glock.

My son has a Glock 22, .40 S&W. I shoot it. I like the way it shoots...and yes, "it goes bang every time." It's a good gun.

I think it was a technical break through, even though I'm more old school. I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life to one....however....that damn trigger has got to go.

What a lousy excuse for a "safety".

Yes, I know, it won't go bang unless "you pull the trigger", but that little trigger "thingy" just leave something to be desired...for me.

You know, I might even buy one some day....but I'll never carry it.

I don't like the way Glocks fit in my hand, they're all too small.

But I'm just as inaccurate with them as with anything else.

I can't get excited either negative or positive about most semi-autos. This includes not only Glocks, but also things like High Powers and even the iconic 1911. And a third generation Smith and Wesson or two. And, I think a Sig, although my memories are vague, it obviously made a big impression:rolleyes:.

I guess I'm more of a revolver kind of a guy. :D

the new glocks have a textured grip but i cant find a picture, anyone find a picture? i know for now only the glock 17 & glock 22 have the textured grip other model will have them soon.

Smith & Wesson revolvers are my favorite handguns. Enough said about that!

Back in the early 80's when they started selling Glocks I swore I would never own a damn plastic pistol. I honestly believed that. Over the years more and more LE agencies went to the Glock. Now, that caught my attention. Guys that put their life on the line everyday, not knowing if they would go home after their shift have my respect and I value their opinion on defensive weapons. I talked to a bunch of LE friends and almost all like their Glocks after having them for a while. I shot a few and other than the trigger they weren't bad.

I helped my buddy out in his gunshop often, several years back and was impressed with the numbers he was selling. He had NEVER had a glock brought back in for repair! I started looking at the results from LE shootings with the 40 S&W round and finally gave in. I had a CWP so I bought the Glock model 23 and still have it. I fire it 4 or 5 times a year and it has never malfunctioned. I had a gunsmith install a 3 1/5 # connector. I shoot this gun as well as I shoot any revolver double action and I must say I shoot very well ( no BS, just the truth, I practice often). I have 100% confidence in this Glock and carry it as much as I carry any of my concealed weapons.

I was wrong in the beginning about these guns because I had a closed mind and listened to all the BS. The truth is : Glock makes a fine gun at a reasonable price.

For me it's 360 PD in the front pocket, G19 in the waist band when clothing allows and for a real good time...Mod 29 .44 or 1911s at the range. Life is good.

Oh yes, when hunting it's the mod 29 in a shoulder holster as backup.

Not just regarding firearms, this whole "US vs THEM" group identity with cars, trucks, chili, pizza, beer, sports teams, and almost everything imaginable leaves me puzzled.

Wait... sports? Come on! You're not one of those "everyone is a winner for trying" people are you? If you don't pick a side in sports... most aren't nearly as fun.

Game 7 of the world series must be a blast at your place.... ;):p
