Non Rant - What's a Happy Time for You?

Time spent on the water.

Extra special when on a sailboat, with a nice breeze, calm seas, cool drink and topless first mate.

Fishing. Especially snook fishing
Thanksgiving, when the entire family gets together.
Date night with the wife and NO kids.;)

Sitting on the veranda at the century-old Copper Queen Hotel in Bisbee, Arizona, enjoying the mild weather with friends and/or family and sipping a Margarita, Sapphire on the rocks, or a Heineken. The rest of the world can go take a flying leap while I'm observing this ritual, which was previously observed by both my grandfather and my father! Who says you can't step back into the past, when the world was a much different and not even arguably a better place?

Watching the door slide down on the last cattle truck in the fall.

That means I have a couple of months of relative quiet before I have to start buying cattle and doing it again.

Cooking (preferably BBQ or Mexican food) then eating the creation. Cleaning up, not so much.

I was happy today after I fixed 3 holes in the line that fills my stock tank. One a critter chewed and 2 illegals cut through for water that is turned off. After the repairs, I sat in my rocking chair under an Emory(live) oak. Some Ruby crowned kinglets flew in, the Sacred datura fragrance filled the wash. I have had in the past Bobcats and Muleys drawn to the sound of the water splashing in the tank. I sit and rock and close my mind and eyes, and was awaken by the local bad boy Mexican (blue) Jays squawking up a storm.

Relaxing moments and places

Just sat down after doing about six things at once (so it seems) and here I am reading all these posts of relaxing.
All of them sound so inviting and the very places to escape it all. I would love to see and be at each of them but I will, just for the moment be content with these reads and an ice cold one.
Thanks guys.

Sitting in my gun room talking on the phone with various forum members that actually listen to me ramble, and staring at my meager collection.

Watching my sons antics which make me laugh every day.
Being in my canoe at 6:30 am just as the sky lightens and the mist is still on the water while my bait is on the bottem with the fish tasting it.

I will add this but it was a one time deal which i never want to repeat. It was Sept 4th 2007 at 8:59 am.My wife was in full labor and couldn't get off the toilet because the pressure was great,i started to panic and had to call 911.After my first call i hung up and directly called my mom to tell her that she had a grandson on the way and to start to head to the hospital,we never made it there. While still on the phone with my mom my wife said he was coming out and started pushing. She was able to grab his head before he went head first in the toilet.I grabbed the rest of him and pulled him the rest of the way out.I grabbed the bulb saringe from my first aid kit and sucked the slime from his nose and mouth :( .Thats when i heard him cry for the first time, and i have to admit i did to.I then called 911 back to say we had him but still needed medics. The whole birth took 6 minutes and 22 seconds from start to cutting the cord.

I made sure that would never happen again so when my youngest son was born we made sure and had the doctor induce her.

Plus 10!

Been there done that, oh the mam...oops, I mean memories. (o;

2nd time here. Got thinking about it hard. Its like this: I am 68. I had many good times in the past and frankly, most of them CANT be repeated! That is because first, the people I had them with are all dead! (or feeble).
Next, for a lot of the incidents I was in better shape just to be there, and maybe being "single" was also a big factor.
I like the same things now as I did 50 to 60 years ago. That is guns, flying, motorcycles, traveling, gambling and being with old friends and relatives. Well, I have fast ran out of old relatives, friends all moved, or I did, also they all got civilised too.
The lesson here is do a lot more of what you like while you can and have the means and ability to.
