Question on and suggestions needed to do one of those karma giveaways.

One thing I truly like about this forum, besides all the smart, funny and wacky folks that dwell therein is all the varied locales represented. There are places I have yet to see, others I haven't been in a long while and I enjoy stories and especially pictures from these places.

I picked up a piece of birdseye maple from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from a forum karma, a small piece of a place I may never see. Maybe find a little something unique to your area for an offer. Pretty sure the members here could not care less about the value of the gift, just the fact that someone throws this out there out of the kindness of their heart.

You never know what others will consider treasure. Someone is getting good response to empty 9mm boxes. Who would have ever guessed. I should be something you no longer want or value, but something that others might like. I would certainly not go buy something to give away.

Some members give some real nice stuff, but being part of the poor underclass I would not get too carried away. I never participate in Karma give-a-ways, as I never know from day to day if I will be allowed back on the site, so I am probably the wrong person to advise anyone about Karma.

The Karma philosophy is nice in theory, but I have never found it overly accurate in real life. Seems like the worst villains always get a way scott free, with only rare exceptions. Keep it simple and make it easy, especially on yourself. Just your presence on these boards is some real Karma for all of us.

Heh heh, 9 mm boxes. That can be easily arranged. All I gotta do, is empty one of the Federal or Winchester boxes I have//sorry, ammo stays with me//:cool: However, I suspect they want vintage boxes, mine ain't.

How to pick the WINNER - Suggestion ....

If you want to do a RANDOM selection:
Several previous have picked winner based on the NUMBER of the request.
You can use a RANDOM NUMBER to select the POST NUMBER.
EASY RANDOM NUMBER - Open wallet pull out a dollar bill -
use the last two digits as your WINNING POST NUMBER.
If dollar bill number is greater than number of post - try next dollar.

Bekeart

The above sounds good too. Now to settle on what to give. Food is out since others may not like what I like. Trouble with gun shows here, is if I'm expecting a certain dealer who brings in certain stuff, they might not be at the gun show when I need them. I'm starting to think in the line of getting things that I know are consistently there. Maybe a pistol rack? I know someone who might still have one for sale? that holds several guns.

I am thinking that a guy who professes to have a CD-DVD of every old Western ever made-
Let's see - what could he offer as a Karma Gift?
Maybe one of them Waco Fruitcakes?
And I'm not talking about Billy Joe Shaver, he's the Wacko From Waco.

Maybe food stuff IS in? My salsa Verde lady is in there at every show. Maybe someones wife would like spices? etc. Fruitcakes I can easily do but, nobody wants a doorstop. DVDs are also doable, just don't know if anyone has many taste in DVDs?

We'll see, as I can't do this till about March anyway.

The random number generator is easy and it works well.

When I did a "karma", I just added a bunch of super cheapo things to orders I was already making to get free shipping. These things pile up and you give them away. They make great Christmas presents too.

Of course, we all love pocket knives.

Great suggestion, I see loads of those at every show. I think it'll be a pocket knife of some kind? and probably something else.

A good karma could be something for a firearm you no longer own, a tool you don't need, a book you've read.

I have some parts that were shipped incorrectly. Was going to cost more than I cared to pay to return them. They will eventually go to a karma.

Look around the shop. And yes, reloaders need boxes to put the final product in, so empty boxes worked. You would be surprised by how many ask for mine at the range. Ultimate recycling.

One thing I had thought of that most here might need, is one of those multi pistol racks. Trouble is, is that dealer isn't at every show either. I don't know, I guess I'll go by every table at the next show, and take notes.
