Really Cheap Beer

I can tell you one thing for certain, it's a lot harder to brew a Miller Light than an Irish Stout!

Obviously what the means is that simpler is far tastier!!
my current beer of choice is Sam Adams Rebel IPA

I'd never heard of Hamm's until I went into the Navy. I was stationed at NTC San Diego and was enjoying my first liberty after completing basic training. I had a friend from boot camp who was from SD and his brother, a Marine Captain stationed in Nam had a house with a pool and my buddy had the keys to it. It started with four of us from the same boot company. Then some of his friends started showing up, a couple of them with an iced down trash can full of Hamm's Draft. The cans were shaped like little barrels. I didn't like them at first but after five or six they started to taste pretty good. "Ladies" and more beer showed up and I was told later that I had a pretty good time. I woke up the next morning in a dark garage in the back seat of a 57 Chevy with a definite two. I was probably a one to
her.

I haven't had any Hamm's since then. They don't sell it around here. I like Yuengling when I can get it and Michelob Ultra when I can't.

Those can shaped like beer barrels were cool.

My Dad had a little beer garden and he made a lot of money selling Carling Black Label. If I remember correctly it was a buck a six pack ( 1950's ). One time we were in Winnipeg and my Dad asked the waiter what the best Canadian beer was and he replied Carling Black Label. We all thought that was a low end beer.

The cheapest beer I have consumed was in the mid '60's..A local drug store chain ( Parkview drugs) had an in house beer called McLab, not to be confused with Michelob..60 cents a six pack..
Another cheapy was to be had in the early 70's, Falstaff, 99 cents a six pack..

For the last 30 years they have been very successful offering all their blends to the public, so I would guess as a business, someone in that organization has an idea what consumers will purchase.

SAM (NYSE) $229.54

Sort of like the S&W of beers;), different calibers vs different blends.

Just bustin' chops with SAM, I'm not big on beers with aftertaste:(. Their timing was right as far as bringing a choice to people looking for one.

Do they still make a spring fresh blend? That must be after they rinse out the Seasonal Blend vats with Simple Green.:DSure does taste like it!

Anyone mention Keystone? I think that is the cheapest beer around these parts. Not for me tho. If I'm gonna destroy my liver and get a huge belly, it's gonna be with the more expensive stuff.

I'm cheap and buy Labatt Blue as I like Canadian beer and it's cheap here. As I've stated it's not as good as they sell in Canada but still decent.
When in Canada a few years back for my uncle's funeral we stopped for lunch and my brother and I ordered Labatt Blue as we knew it'd be the real deal. We also ordered pemeal bacon (sp?) as you can only get it there.
My wife asked what's the big deal with you two until she tried the bacon and was sold on it too.

Don't forget gravy on your French fries! :D

Peameal Bacon. I guess these days not ground up peas but cornmeal is used.
