Hi

I am old to S&W guns but new here. I have just aquired a new 625 Mountain Gun, 45 Colt, 4" barrel. New gun requires new means of carry. I have looked high & low for holsters for field and concealment . It would seem that the fellow with the wheelgun is out of luck these days. Does anyone have a suggestion or direction to a good source for holsters? Thanks

Lobo Gun Leather at Lobo Gun Leather - Home I only have a couple of his revolver holsters but they are both very well made. Last one was purchased about 3 months ago and I believe it shipped about 2 1/2 weeks after I ordered it.

I hve had excellent luck with a horsehide Kramer vertical scabbard. He makes one specifically for the tapered barrels. I works/rides/draws great for my 2 Mt. guns, my m24, and my m28. All this and I lucked into it for $40 at gunshop because it came n with a trade in....BUT i like it so well, that I'll buy one at full price when I get one for a standard barrel n-frame. Good luck in your search.

Galco Phoenix PHX126, Bianchi 5BHL, both lined, the Galco can be worn in 3 positions, the Bianchi 2. The Galco covers the trigger, the Bianchi doesn't. Both are thumbsnap. Go to both websites and check them out. The Galco can be adjusted for how tight the gun fits. All the mountain guns that I have seen have tapered barrels, and in my opinion the tapered barrels fit these two holsters very well. I hope that this has at least given you a couple of choices to mull over.

+1 on Kramer...that's what I carry my Mtn Guns in and I strongly recommend them.

+1 on Lobo. Ray makes a full flap Field Holster as well as a faithful replica of the Tom Threepersons rig, both of which would suit your needs. Ray made me a Field Holster for my 624 snub ... it's tough enough for any field carry I can dream up.

Holster is a Kramer Vertical.

All those mentioned are good holsters and I have a Simply Rugged, but the one I use the most for my .44M Mountain Gun (takes the same holster) is a Galco DAO. I will carry strong side and cross draw and has a retaining strap w/adjustment screw. To me, the retaining strap is very important if you intend to carry it.
FYI---the number is DAO 126 for size.
