I have a couple of used revolvers that the previous owner buggered the side plate screw heads. There's something we have never seen before  Can't stand to look at them any longer.

Anyways, can new screws be purchased either from S&W or one of the big suppliers?

These are the blued round head for a model 27-2 and a model 19-3.

Thanks, Bob

Midway USA has them.

Brownells should have them also

Yes, but the forward one (above the trigger, the one that retains the yoke) was a fitted part, not sure if it still is. S & W customer service can probably answer the question if you provide them with your guns' model and serial numbers.

If they are not too buggered you can draw file em, polish and cold blue for a much better look.

You can get them from the factory. Trouble is it cost more for postage than the screws themselves. We had a few of us order about 20 to make it worthwhile.
You will need to specify which screws and for what gun or you may not get what you need. This was especially true ordering the round head screw. S&W couldn't get it quite right the first time.

Call S&W They will tell you. I did this on a couple seperate occasions and they sent me all the sideplate screws for both guns, no charge. These were older guns also, not new ones. S&W is great about trying to take care of their customers when they can. I also called them about new screws for a new 27 classic sideplate I bought because I wanted a spare set and they sent me those too, again, no charge. I don't like their new revolvers as much as their old ones, but their customer service is second to none.

Thanks guys. I did look at Brownells but a lot of the screws were out of stock and listed as no longer manufactured. I'll give S&W a try.

It is funny you posted this as I was in the same dilemma today, but I went to the gunshow and found a "parts guy".

He went through his supply and pulled out the screws I needed for my 27-2. Tried to pay him but he said just take them!

So my suggestion would be to either find a gunsmith or do as I did today.

Good luck.

I have a 1921 S&W M&P that was missing one screw and also needed due to years of fubar'd use the other screws. They had them all in stock and got them in two days. Here is the quote from Brownells tech rep...

I contacted Old West for the side plate screws. He wants $12 - $15 PER SCREW. So I contacted Brownells tech, they gave me the correct part numbers and they were $2.84 each. This was Brownells reply.

"The three side plate screws are still the same as long as you order the old style yoke screw. The flat head screw at the top rear is item 940-030-910, the side plate screw round head is item 940-036-570 and the old style yoke screw is 940-050-491 and this screw will require fitting. There is no longer the screw for the front of the trigger guard available. I hope this helps and thank you for the iqnuiry.

I ordered and received the screws and have replaced them all with the Brownells S&W screw driver bit set that I also bought. The Yoke screw required no special fitting.
