Hello all, just wanted a little advice. My mom has a mile stone birthday coming up this weekend and my wife and I decided to throw a huge surprise party for her on Saturday. But my wife's birthday is Friday as well, so I was planning on taking my wife out to a nice dinner Friday night. Do you guys think I should also get a cake for my wife on Saturday separate from the cake for my mom?

The only reason I am questioning this is because it is again a mile stone for my mom. Thanks

Your situation is kinda like having a Christmas birthday - you always feel gypped when folks give one gift for both occasions :p

On the other hand, you're dealing with two women so you might wander into a mine field - "Oh great ! All I needed was MORE CAKE "

Sometimes you just gotta take a chance and duck.

Ask the restaurant if They will do a birthday song. Maybe a cupcake with a candle or ice cream with a liquor flame. Let Mom have Saturday.

NO! NO! NO!
I hate that! Most people do.
I have gotten up and walked out when the restaurant staff started singing.
Again, be VERY sure if your loved one likes attention for their birthday. Your well meaning stunt could spoil the day for everybody. :(

You know your wife better than we do, I hope.:D Do for her what you would if it wasn't your mother's birthday the next day.

Cake for mom for sure.
Talk to your wife and get her opinion on what she wants - then do it.
I agree with Grayfox, NO SINGING; they are servers not singers and they prove it time after time.

This x1000.

Late wife and I surprised ma-in-law #1 with a trip to see Wayne Newton on her 80th and him mentioning her special day. Talk about thrilled, but that kind of attention isn't for everyone.

Surprised my aunt this year for her 80th by making the trip to England. Color her shocked, lol.

Family dinner night out for my wife's birthday many moons ago I whispered to my son that his Mom would love to hear him sing rather than the staff. When the time was right I nodded and not only did he stand and sing he stood on his chair and belted out a full voiced rendition as only a tone deaf twelve year old can. Everybody, staff and patrons joined in and at the end the doors were blown off of the place during the huge cheer.
You know your ladies, the surprise party sounds great and if the seat will hold give the Mrs. your best.

I see a very wonderful birthday dinner for you and your wife that includes a scrumptious dessert. Perhaps she will share it with you.
But Mom's day is Mom's day.
