Hi guys, Im thinking about giving my girlfriend my SD9VE and getting an M&P, so I want to get ride of some of the recoil for her. SHe's never shoot before and is looking to get into it, but has little upper body srength. The Spinco guide rod is supposed to reduce "felt" recoil by 30%. has anyone ever used one? it $90 which is a 3rd of what i payed for the gun, so not sure if its worth it.

also I have a gunsmith making me a threaded barrel for a compinsator. any other ideas on removing recoil with out affecting shootability?

thanks guys

Each to their own; opinions are like rectums, everybody's got one and here's mine.

Personally the recoil of my S&W SD9VE's is pretty mild.

I've never had a female shooter of any age complain about it.

Spending $79-$99 for their product would be a waste in my book.

I think the money could be better spent on practice ammo.

An instructor told me when me and my wife were selecting witch caliber sdve would be better. he opted for the forty for girls especially biggies because the 9am has alot less recoil power and can stovepipe and fail to eject due to limp wrist. Basically the 40 is got more boom and can operate under any condition or shooters skill level. It's not too beast for her and she's a little lady who wears a size 6 ring

As someone whose owned both, .40 for myself and 9 for her, I strongly disagree.
She had a couple fail to feeds on my .40 (from limp wristing)...none on her 9. The .40 has more pop for sure.
Each time she had a fail to feed..I picked it up (.40) and put a flawless mag through. I agree...spend that money on range and ammo...

galloway makes a stainless guide rod for about $35 from 15lb to 22lb. i put a 22lb in my SD40VE and it dropped recoil and muzzle flip a bit. stock from smith is a 17lb rod.

Galloway precision makes captive recoil spring s for the sd and sigma series. Oh and they're stainless steel and cost 30$ I put a 20 lbs one in my sd40ve and could tell the difference from the stock spring set. But that's my opinion.
