Striker Fire rather than Hammer Fire?

I'm not much of an auto shooter but every DA auto I've ever tried has way too long a reach to the trigger for my stubby fingers.

I shoot DA revolvers mostly but am looking at an auto for carry. It'll take a few more rentals, but a striker-fire will likely get the nod, probably an M&P.

There's absolutely nothing modern about the Nylon compositions used for the frames of tactical Tupperware. They're a lot older than I am, and I'm 46.
I have two plastic striker pistols, and I love one of them. The other, I just like.
I love my Ruger SR9. Better trigger than a Glock, easier to conceal, and not so damned ugly. Not that the SR is pretty.

However, none of the striker fired plastic wonders I've fired have a trigger than can come anywhere near being as good as my hammer fired guns.

The DA/SA transition was never a problem for me.
The DA revolver trigger pull was never a problem for me.
Shooting a .38 snub was never a problem for me.

I think the problem with the LEOs who have trouble learning to use them is with the shooter, NOT with the equipment.
Start them off with a late '80s-early '90s Charter Bulldog .44.
My first one had one of the heaviest DA pulls I've ever encountered.
After that, a J frame is a piece of cake.

How can you master the horrid triggers of most striker fired pistols, if you can't master a good DA, SA, DA/SA, or DAO trigger?

Anyhoo, I prefer hammer fired. I've never had any of my hammer guns embarrass themselves when trying to light off mil-spec primers or milsurp ammo.
My two striker fired pistols are not always happy with such primers or ammo.

BUT, I say "Buy and carry what you like." You can bet I will.

If my 3rd gen Smiths weren't so hard to replace, I'd carry them instead of my Tupperware.

Honestly, the Makarov is one of my favorite carry pieces, as is the CZ82.
However, they're not so cheap and plentiful anymore.
Still, if I want to shoot something that is very comfortable in the hand and has a great DA/SA pull, the CZ comes out of the holster.
If I want to shoot something that has just about the ultimate centerfire SA pull, the 52-1 comes out to play.
If I want to shoot something that is just easy, relaxing, and boringly reliable, I have my CZ, Makarovs, 3rd Gen Smiths, Taurus PT99, EAA Witness, FIE TZ75, and Star M45 Firestar.

If I want to shoot a pistol that's heavy enough to drive railroad spikes, I have the M45 Firestar.
