Me too. Already used it on the kids: "GET YOUR BOOGER HOOKS......". They all got a riot out of that one.

I wish I could take credit for the "booger hook/bang switch" line, but I remember reading it or hearing it somewhere before I started using it. It's a shame I can't copyright it.

I had posted here a few times about various holsters I was looking to and did buy. However two weeks ago I was shooting with some friends and one of which has a Bulldog Tactical Hybrid Holster for his SW40VE.

It's a belt holster, fits and works really well, and is a great buy for $15.00. I liked it so much I bought it to carry my SW40VE while bow hunting and doing other outdoor things here in Nebraska.

I was having same problem so sent it back to the factory. They are sending it back but could'nt tell me what they had done. Hopefully whatever it was got fixed.

I just got a call from my gunsmith and lo and behold I wasn't just screwing up! My SW40VE was shooting low and needed the barrel replaced. Gunsmith tells me its the first time someone sent one in that was actually faulty and not due to poor technique.

Even tho I called my NRA LE Instructor to test the SW40VE and found the same problem, a little part of me thought that just maybe there was nothing wrong with the SW40VE and it wa all my fault.

I tell ya, I am happy I didn't waste my gunsmith's time for my own poor shooting. I feel much better and can't wait to get my SW40VE back!

I should have it back for this weekend - I hope!

What exactly was wrong with the barrel?? Did he swap a barrel to confirm it was shooting low? Just curious.

He didn't state exactly what was wrong with the barrel, only that it needed to be replaced. He did fire the SW40VE to see if it was indeed shooting low. Many people "pull" the shot with the heavier trigger on the Sigma pistols.

I assume that the barrel somehow was out-of-shape during manufacturing. He did swap barrels and test fired again to make sure the weapon was on-target. It is now accurate.

The replacement barrel was for older models that didn't have the "window" that lets you see if a round is chambered. I never use those "windows" anyway (there are much better ways to ensure a weapon is unloaded and I would never rely on a little "peep hole"). I readily agreed to the older-style barrel w/o "window" that was in-stock so I wouldn't have to wait for new replacement from S&W.

I think mine shoots a tad low also..
But I haven't had time to thoroughly test it,
so haven't done anything about it yet.
I've never tried bagging, or clamping the thing
down, so I haven't decided if it's me, or the
pistol.
But.. I think it's the pistol. It shows up the
most on longer shots. I've also never tried
different grain bullets to see if maybe a
lighter round might do better.
I've always used 180 grain so far. I think I'm
going to grab some 165 gr rounds and try those
too. I need to rig up some bags or something to
make sure the pistol stays put. Need to put me
out of the equation before I can condemn the
barrel.

But I normally have pretty decent trigger
control so I have to wonder about it. I've
pretty much thought it shot a bit low from the
first day I used it. I'm not a beginner shooter.
I've got about 40 years practice with various
trigger activated devices..

On the other hand, I'm no pistol whiz, so to
me, the jury is still out until I prove it using
better testing.

I'm not having any issues with aiming. Someone else mentioned that they are used to DA revolvers... as am I. Once you are accustomed to the trigger of a 642, the SW40VE is a breeze.

Mine has those gaps as well. Working on a pic.

I went thru the same thought process. Wasn't until I called my NRA LE instructor to do some testing firing with similar results that I felt like it was probably not me but the firearm. Still, I remained worried I was just screwing up until the gunsmith called to let me know the barrel was bad.

Mine was pretty far off: 10 to 14 inches low at 7 to 10 yards. I have many off days at the range, but never that bad with every shot... And I was shootin' fairly straight with other handguns that day. But like you, I had to turn it over for expert testing before I was more certain it wasn't just bad technique on my part.

If it is still under warranty, it costs nothing to send the Sigma back to S&W (or Frank Smith - S&W warranty provider in TX) for them to test fire and see what's up. S&W will stand behind their product.

FYI: Here was the initial response when I approached S&W Warranty Provider about the low shootin'

This is not a problem that I have encountered with the Sigmas. There have been no recalls for the Sigmas. Please send it to us for testing and repair. It will be in house approximately four days for repair.

Put your name, address, phone number, and the issue(s) that you are having inside the case with the gun. Take it to a FedEx service center (not a FedEx Kinkos or a mom & pop place) or there are sometimes FedEx Express Drop boxes at US Post Offices. Go to FedEx.com to find your closest shipping location. Ask for a white medium express box, they will give it to you free of charge (don't let them "sell" you a box). Please include all magazines if there is a feeding, misfire, and or extraction issue.

On the shipping label address it to the address below:

In section4a) mark the box priority overnight

In section7) mark the box bill to recipient, on the line write this account # 2456-8820-2, and on the line total declared value write the cost of the gun

In section 8) mark the box direct signature required. We will repair it and send it back to you.

I own a 40VE sigma I have found good luck with Wolf Springs made for Sigmas. I had the striker spring installed and it is a different weapon.

As a side note, I found it interesting that checking the S&W web site I found that the green model of the 40VE is actally cheaper than the black polymer. All things else being equal.

Just got mine back and they said they replaced the front sights. Haven't been to range yet but am hoping that fixed the problem. Glad to know it wasn't me or the trigger.

Just got my Sigma back from Frank at LSG. Sent it in for the hard trigger pull. It's much better now and pulls smoothly. Still more effort than my XDm, but it's acceptable now. I highly recommend Frank at LSG.

My Sigma looks the same as the one in the above picture. Is this an issue?

Thanks presspics. After taking the gun apart, I can see it's that way by design.
