When I was in the Navy, just out of boot camp, I got a tattoo on my upper left arm...my then-girlfriend's name in a scroll with hearts and flowers. As you might suspect, we broke up...one night a buddy and I decided to remove it (yes, we had plenty of alcohol...most of it inside us.) We cut the part out with her name on it, and I put it in a little bottle of alcohol, planning to send it to her. I guess the bottle had a leak, because the alcohol evaporated and the little strip of flesh rotted, so I threw it away. So, now I have a scroll with hearts and flowers and a big scar in the middle.
I've thought about having it removed over the years, but it doesn't really show, unless I am wearing a sleeveless shirt (which I don't do.) Even a normal short sleeved shirt will cover it, so I don't worry about it.
I've always talked about getting another tattoo, partly joking and partly serious: I would like to have a propeller tattooed on each one of my butt cheeks.
My advice: if you want a tattoo, get it in a location that your normal attire will easily conceal it if desired. I see kids today with tattoos on their necks, hands, and even their faces, and I wonder how much they are going to regret that when they are older, and how much of a barrier that will be to them having a professional career in business. It would be an asset in sports or music, apparently!
