Tattoos? Got two!!

A Navy buddy and I were wondering around San Francisco after visiting the Presidio EM club back in 1967 when we came upon a tatoo shop owned by Lyle Tuttle, who later came to be known as the "Tatoo Artist To The Stars." My friend had a little money and told Mr Tuttle that he really liked this little rose he had on display and asked how much it was. Mr. Tuttle told him it was $5.00. My buddy told him where he wanted it and the price went to $35.00. He asked why and Mr. Tuttle told him $5.00 for the tat and $30.00 handling charge. He paid the money and got the tat and suffered for days.

Mr. Tuttle asked me what I wanted and I told him all I had was $2.00. He told me he would do my initials for $2.00 and I said OK. My initials are CRS and that tatoo resides on my upper right arm. I later found out that CRS stands for "Can't Remember XXXX." Be careful what you put there.

I met Lyle when I went to the Inkslinger's Ball at the Hollywood Palladium in 2000. He acted like a bit of a jerk.
