Taylor Swift? I don't get it

What?

Nobody over 30 understood the Beatles at the time....

It is very common for young people to dismiss old people's opinions on no other basis than their age. Nowadays we have the "OK Boomer!" phenomenon. However, I would caution you that the societal decline we are seeing is very real.
People who were used to Edwardian parlor music were horrified at the Bobby Soxers who went crazy over Sinatra's overtly sexualized music. They knew that it signified the death of Christian morality.
Later people who had seen that, and even accepted that, were shocked at the Beatle mania. They knew that it signified a break with tradition, and they feared what it meant. Were the Communists winning?
Today, society is so bad, that Boomers look at the success of Taylor Swift and say, "Well, she's not as bad as some of the others."

There is a YouTube of Swift from years ago, where she brings out Shawn Colvin and they perform "Sunny Came Home" together, Colvin's hit from 1997. It is shot from somebody's phone, so the audio is not what you wish, but even so, it is interesting to compare the two women. As poets they are not in the same league. As singers, they each do well in their own way, but I think Taylor Swift knows the difference and wanted her fans to know about this very special folk singer.
-As a person, Swift has an unusual humility especially for someone in her position.
-As a businesswoman, her handling of Scooter Braun and her old label, Big Machine, is truly admirable. I understand she credits Kelly Clarkson with the advice. What you are seeing today is the after-effect of that decision and her superior skill over others who have controlled her work previously.
-As a Christian, I do not care for what she has to say as a poet or philosopher. Her message is typical worldly vanity, feminist hypergamy. She has been through the actors and musicians, and now she will run through the sports stars. I hope I am wrong. We'll see.

Kelly Clarkson:eek:. Fat, ugly, and buck toothed.:D

Her looks do absolutely nothing for me but her credit score most likely would...

What has 200 legs and no pubic hair?

The front row at a Taylor Swift concert!

I don't care for her music. I wouldn't know one of her songs if you hit me with it. But she is a talented, lovely young lady who has made it big. Good for her.
From what I see, unlike many of the so called "super stars", she does have a real appreciation and love for her fans. That I like. ;)

My hippie girlfriend dragged me to a Peter, Paul and Mary concert in the 60's. 1st and last concert I have or ever will attend. Fans have died in Rio's heat waiting to see her. Taylor Swift must be in league the DEVIL.

I don't get it, and never will. It's not like she's Janice or Cass for goodness sakes.
