The media is spreading fear

I will say it one more time. There is going to be no way to quantify how the actions taken (self isolation distance etc) have prevented more illness and deaths. You can't prove a negative.
If all the shutdowns were not taken what would the count be.?

For all those who think the whole thing is a farce, fake, whatever. Be the first to go and get in a group that have the virus and are sick and see how you feel in a few weeks.

There is a lot of bad information out there, but the issue is even the Drs/experts are dealing with something new and really do not know the best course of action.

Just like caliber wars, I can never get someone to hold my target and 5 yards and let me shoot them with my 380 acp,
But continue to say 380 is not a viable defense round.

This country, and no other country in the world has been "shut down", period.

I beg to differ Norway which I mentioned in my post above shut down every bitt as hard as the US. Schools, businesses all closed, travel restricted. Did it work? Its death toll rate was 43 time LESS than its Neighbor Sweden who did nothing a path we wisely chose to avoid.

Germany bans meetings over TWO people and shut down the majority of their business. Again a low death rate.

Switzerland shut down

France has shut down

England has lots of restrictions

\Ireland closed its PUBS before St Paddies day!

Italy did when it got hammered

Tell me where all these 1st world countries are that are still going along their merry way.
Just keep on ignoring anything that doesn't agree with your opinion.

Or youy could try widen your horizons and looking at whats going on outtside you own area.

No lock down here. I can go out on the street here, and I have been to the super market, hardware store, lumber yard, farm supply. Girls go down to the school yard and play basketball with each other. Other kids are there, they just stay on different parts of the playground McDs is till open. So whats your point. Bars and eat in restaurants, barbershops and stuff like that are closed

What ever restrictions you have in your state are from Your
governor.

So your point is???

I guess what it comes down to is that
for those who believe the shutdown is
necessary, then continue as you were.

For those who question the wisdom of
the shutdown and apparently fear more
the governments violating rights, then
ignore the restrictions. However, if you
become ill from the virus, please know
you've now willingly added to the already
heavy burden faced by the health community.

Differ all you like. When people are out and about I don't call that a lockdown.
But then again I'm not high IQ.

We're all friends here...

It happens that I was working in Sarajevo, just across the Adriatic Sea from the outbreak in Venice. The Italians truly had no idea what they were going to have to deal with, nor then any idea of how to deal with it effectively. They made no dramatic changes early on, and resultantly ended up with one of the world's best healthcare systems utterly overwhelmed. Morgues and cemeteries were quickly overwhelmed as well.

Shame on Sweden for shrugging this off when by then they knew better. Good on us for not letting our natural resistance to authority overcome our ability to take good advice.

We here in Florida are under Stay at home order) all restaurants are closed most stores etc etc. I guess it depends on the definition of "lock down" People are out and about all over the place

The statement
"This country, and no other country in the world has been "shut down", period."

Is not entirely correct.

I am going out to Target now to pick up some items. I am allowed to do that:D

That's right, you're going out. No shutdown, whatever the term. "Essential" businesses around here, like liquor stores are open. Why?

In earlier post's your a staunch advocate for shutting everything down, is that because you don't actually have to endure it yourself? Would your opinion change if Montana playgrounds are closed because kids are considered biological hazards, or clothing is considered non essential and cant be sold in Montana?

We would be fine with the playgrounds close. But then I own over an acre. I have never professed a desire to have everything locked down. Show me the post where I was. I am for social distancing and closing none essential businesses. Airlines, basket ball, hockey, bars cafes, barber shops and a lot of other stuff we can do without for a while. If you doubt my wiliness to give up stuff for my own and others good. Be aware of the post where I said I left a job that would have netted me over $20000 for the last 5 weeks of it.

Breaking news they just had a 60 car pileup on a Chicago expressway. How did that happen during a "Lock Down"
