Wow id love to haveesome of these beauties at the prices yall paid, especially the 19s and 66s

The ones I still have:

29-2 NIB $181
19-2 NIB $118
60 NIB $165
34-1 NIB $110

Geez Charlie,
Unless you're ripping people off you probably still have the tags on these from when they were brand new. The first four on your list were from 1962, 1961, pre-1972, and 1960. No matter what, they are all awesome guns that I wish I could have paid those prices for.

SWCA #1834

Still got the boxes and all were new in the box WHEN PURCHASED. Most are well seasoned now. Left off the 66 no dash for $135. Gifted to my son. The 29 and 19 were at wholesale. The model 60 was bought at retail and I paid a 50% premium for it at LGS. You just got to buy early and live to be an old man.

Having worked most of my life in a grievously underpaid profession, I've never bought a new Smith pistol or revolver. Every one I've owned has been very satisfactory to superb, and none has cost over $400.

This is a tough thread to gauge...time changes things and a lot of these beautiful guns have been with their current owner many, many years. Under $400 even 5 years ago ain't the same thing today.

Having said that these are some mighty fine lookin' guns!

This was my most recent one, about a month back.

To be fair, however, by the time I add in the Governor's cut and the $40 I paid for the set of grips on it now(in the picture) I'm in it $11 over $400. Hopefully, once I sell the fake pearls that were on the gun when I bought it, I'll be back under $400.

Forgot this one...this Model 29-3 NIB cost me $200 in 1987.

If I had bought this today taking into account the rate of inflation between 1987 and 2014, it would have cost me $416.01. Just above what this thread calls for. Yet still, I consider that a smoking hot deal. The vendor at the Virginia Beach gun show where I bought it had a pallet of brand new 29-3's! I think that is why I received such a good deal for a brand new 29-3.

This started as a $400 Glock 19. Took some horse trading to get it but i think i did okay.

Someone took a G19 for that gorgeous 686? That's the trick! Get a few Glocks and start trading to the younger crowd who have their Dad's guns!!:D (That may not be what happened here but still something to think about!)

Seriously...that's a smokin' deal all day every day. The 686 is already worth twice the Glock and only going to increase in value...the G19?...eh...not so much.

Got this pre model 10 for $300. What look like blemishes are just a poor cell phone picture

It bums me that as I travel around I see displays full of jamamatics and very few S&W revolvers and used ones are really rare and when you do see them the price is way high. Is it just Montana???
Got a 1917 that is nice except for the barrel for 3 bills recently to.

My two Smiths make the cut...

In regards on my pride-and-joy 686-2 (with light action trigger and Pau Ferro grips) I bought from a good friend and co-worker, who was downsizing his collection. This I gave $400... the 10-5 was considerably less.

The Glock turned into a P220R carry which in turn changed into the no-dash no-m 686 pictured. The revolver also included the original box, paperwork, and wax paper  Eventually I'll send it back home for the -m recall but I'll probably wait until I have the money saved up for a master action job at the same time :D

I agree completely but the idea here, atleast for me, is to be able to view some of the guns that may never get a day to shine, shooters, work horses etc.

To figure out the cost in today's dollars, use this handy Inflation Calculator:

As an example, my 1987 $200 Model 29-3 in today's dollars would be $416.00.
