The worst tasting liquor I've tasted!

purple passion was made with everclear and welch's grape juice where i came from. could be interesting when snow was on the ground in winter.

CLEAR WINNER!!!

Nothing even close to this stuff: Spiritus (sp?) Israeli liquor. One of our Chaplains (Rabbi) toasted a promotion and insisted upon a shot.

In all seriousness, I belched for three (3) days and tasted that stuff each and every time. Worse yet, it burned going down like the gates of hell.

I am NOT kidding, you could hold a gun to my head and threaten to pull the trigger whilst insisting I take another swallow. Go ahead, take your shot!

Be safe.

Bad Arkansas Moonshine

I had some good shine in Arkansas (1973-1978)

Remember on memorial-by BAD batch that would put hair on your chest or take the hair off depending on application:

Internal or External

Had some pretty bad beer in my time. 'Ba-me-ba', Ba-Muoi-Ba, or Biere 33, was pretty bad in Vietnam, and they said it was 1/4 formaldahyde. Even worse was Biere Larue. I had some of the latter, warm, over ice, out in the field once, and after the ice melted there was a half inch of sludge in the glass, either from the beer or the ice.

But the worst beer I ever drank was long after hours in Juarez, in the 1950s when it was safe to go there. My friend and I went up some dark alley, with a lit 'Cerveza' sign at the end of it. I could never find it again in the day. We entered and asked for Dos Equis. No, they didn't have it. Corona, or Cruz Blanca; no never heard of it. All they had was something called Chihuahua Beer, which tasted like it came out of the dog of that name. Never again.

Also known as 'purple Jesus' and it did work well as a stomach pump wherever consumed in sufficient quantity! Mad Dog (Mogen David 20%) in grape or orange flavor also worked well to induce a quality projectile vomit!

Not exactly the hard stuff but the worst tasting stuff I ever drank was White Port Wine. Sort of like kerosene only not as smooth! Tawny Port ain't much better.

Ever had any turkish beer? indescribable taste something that came out of the north end of a dog. Used to call it purple panther p__s I'll let you figure that one out. My two daughters have the worst taste when it comes to booze. I must have about 20 or so bottles of all sorts of stuff. And they are going to stay right where they are. Crown royal for me. Frank

Which is why "winos" (and some yoots) mixed white port and kool aide in the '60's. Some enterprising distillers picked up on it and Boones Farm was born.

At our local golf club, most everyone has a flask in the golf bag. The group I play with celebrates with a "pull on the flask" when someone gets a birdie. The drink of choice is "Sweet Tea Burbon". The golfer who gets the birdie doesn't use is own supply, but nips on his partners flask. I don't know the brand, but, the local liquor store sells a lot of it according to the store owner. It's H--- when you get old...........

Absinthe anyone? Made van Gough cut his own ear off. My introduction to it was in the red light district in Amsterdam but later I found out that it was in fact diesel fuel. Realized it when I bought a bottle for myself and it tasted/appeared very different from what I had been served.

I finished drinking many years ago now...

Absinthe !!!!!! O my God I tried it once due to an article in a a gun mag of all places...Had to go to a liquer store that has every thing. Bad mistake Obie the guy who owned the store said he can't sell it but he had a bottle in back opened and old...Being the dumb butt I can be on accassion I tried a sip.....Bad, Bad, Bad mistake....Who drinks this stuff?? I have had Ky. moonshine that was smooth compared to Absinthe. What is that stuff I understand it can not be imported legally, some that is around isn't the same stuff from overseas......I did see Anthoney Bourdan the TV chef try some in Europe and it even made him wether and growl.

My old dad told me some horror stories about that stuff from his youth,in the 20s,in europe. The new version, they claim, has been cleaned up.

Mescal. Smells and tastes like truck fuel.

Mescal is a type of liquor. Like Vodka or Burbon. Its tequila but made in Mezcal region of Mexico. Both Tequila and Mezcal are the same but each holds the rights to that name. Like cognac can only be from France, everything else is brandy. Same idea.

With tequila/mezcal you have to know what youre buying. There are some very very good alcohol but like everything else you get what you pay for. Read the labels carefully.

"100% BLUE AGAVE" means that it was made with only blue agave.

"MADE WITH BLUE AGAVE" means that there is 51% agave liquor eith 49% corn liquor. Basically you get a half *** blend.

Quality tequila/mezcal will start at around $40 and go up. There are also 3 aging stages. Silver is not aged. Teposado is aged only a few months and Anejo is up to 3 years. It is usually aged in used cognac barrels. Sometimes its refiltered again back to silver but the price will reflect this (expensive). Tequila/mezcal can range from ok ($30) yo phenomenal ($100 and up)

Unlike most liquor that uses suger real tequila does not and will have almost no side effects the next day.

I cannot stress enough that you get what you pay for! In the S&W world its like looking at identical Smith and Taurus revolvers and saying "well they look the same so why spend money on a stupid expansive S&W". When in reality the quality will be obvious upon closer inspection.

"Necessity is the Mother of Invention". Try Missouri shine and grapefruit juice on a campout. On second thought... DON'T!

I have a friend here in Tulsa that grew up in Stilwell. After dinner at his house one evening, he brought out a Mason jar of clear liquid that his cousin had made. Interesting stuff, but my voice was a little raspy for the rest of the evening. :D

Worst liquor I ever tasted came in a brown pint bottle I think it was Hoppe's ol Number 9 or sumpthin. Can't remember much of anything after I took a swig. ;)

any of the absinthe drinkers try it the way it is meant to be used or just out of the bottle? major difference in taste that way. you can buy the real stuff in europe. made in switzerland and czechoslovakia is the real deal.

Came across a bottle of Waterfill & Frazer bourbon when we were kids about 1947. This stuff would curl your gizzard. It was made in Mexico when some Mormons moved there during Prohibition. Must have been made in old Kerocene barrels.

Lamont: "What's that you're drinkin', Pops?"

Fred Sanford: "It's my new cocktail. I mix up Cribari and Ripple."

"I call it Cripple!"

Laphroaig is hands down the worst.

I think they call it that
because they make it from dead frog

Most people get a hold of the 10yr old. I like it, but it's not quite finished at 10. Imagine it was -20 and your tromping through snow with a 25mph wind howling. You'll wish you had a taste of that devil in your flask. It's Scottish Gatoraid.
Lagavulin 16yr is one of the best in my opinion. Laphroaig 15yr is also excellent. Just a drop of water will open both up and let those evil flavors roar.

Most i ever spent were on a bottle of 21 year old Glennlevet single molt and a 1942 (name not year) Juan Julio tequila. Both excellent but i dont know how to have a glass each night so both were gone the day they were bought. (Glennlevet was a birthday present to a friend)

Given a choice i'll take the tequila any day over scotch.

Also those of you who like scotch try the Japanese and Indian scotch. Japanese just make good stuff and there is a reason India makes good scotch .....over 300 years of English rule rubbed off in some aspects

The worst I ever tasted was when I was in 8th grade. A friend and I were out rabbit hunting and went into an old barn to get warm. Stuck between a post and the outside wall we found this old dusty bottle. I don't remember the brand on the label, but it was awful! After trying to drink it, we took it back to the woods, poured it over some sticks and set fire to it. So it did warm us up!

Back in the 60's "Rocket fuel" was pretty popular. 1/3 blackberry brandy & 2/3 beer. It didn't taste all that bad. (After the 1st pitcher) And when you puked it was really pretty!

Rem3200 nailed it.

Grappa. I no longer imbibe, but have a friend that drinks that horrible stuff. It is made, according to the label, from grapes, grape leaves, grape seeds and grape stems.

He, and his family, always put that stuff in their coffee and drink it, in coffee, all day long.

Yuck!

Bob
