People who buy me presents have finally gotten it right. Islay does NOT mean Glenlivet ;)
Islay does mean Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg Uigeadail and many thanks to the two discerning individuals who bought me these two lovely bottles of Heaven's elixir.:)
I am now departing to the back 40 to enjoy a wee dram (or two)of the Lagavulin in front of my fire pit and ponder the mysteries of this good life and most excellent holy season upon us...

You have good friends!

I am not a scotch guy either but those who are swear by the single malts. I drink very little distilled spirits. I stay with the barley and hops, but to each their own. I know that I only pay about every 10th time out considering the vast difference in tabs at the end of the night. It would take a lot of my cheap beers to make up 3 doubles of single malt.

Not scotch...Who wants to drink something you can't pronounce the name of?? Scotch tastes lika muddy lawn...in Louisiana...with nightcrawlers mating. Actually Caje...glad you got what you really like. I hope everyone enjoys the gifts of the season. . At least one more duck hunt Caje! Merry Christmas Y'all.

Not much of a drinker anymore but I'm gonna have a Crown and coke...er...Pepsi on Monday My wife's doctor gave her a bottle of nice wine...I bought her(doctors) last rifle

When I was a young man, I decided to learn to like Scotch. Mostly because it seemed like the older men drank it so there must be something to it. It had the added benefit of being totally disliked in my circle of friends so nobody drank up my liquor.

I started off with the blended stuff of course. I kept looking and discovered that there was better stuff. There was a hole-in-the-wall liquor store across the street from my apartment. It was very narrow, had shelves made of 2x4's, and was stuffed with inventory.

I was always going in there trying different things when one day the owner approached me. He gave me a bottle of Scotch on the house and told me if I liked it he'd discount the rest. It was a single malt and while his offer made me a bit suspicious, I went for it.

Best thing I've ever had to this date. Absolutely loved it. I couldn't really afford a whole case but he was fine with me buying it by the bottle. I drank through it and moved on but I still buy myself a bottle once a year though I no longer get a deal.

It's a cask strength whisky. Glenfarclas 105. Speyside.

Cheers, Caje. Happy and healthy holidays to you and your family.
However, a nice bourbon will cure you of that liquid sandpaper-tasting single malt swill. :)
