To Re-Load or Not???

Just some pics of my garage setup. A 30+ year old Black and Decker Workmate with two sheets of 3/4" MDF glued and lag screwed on form the bench top. The press is also 30+ years old, an RCBS Jr.

No stuck cases this morning, although one tried its best. I felt resistance so I lubed more. Still felt resistance so lubed even more thoroughly. The third pull of the handle went up nice and smooth. :)
 
I received my "Modern Reloading" By Richard Lee today. I ordered it from Midway they have it on sale. Anyway it seems to be a great book with a lot of indepth information not available in most of my reloading books. For instance it has a chart that tells you how much powder fits in what size of lee dipper and it has a lot of powders listed. The only powder I havent found is the CFE223 but that just came out this year. It goes into a lot of detail that I have never seen before. Just thought I would share that. :)
 
Finally put together my .260rem Bolt action. Savage 10 action, Shilen 28" bull barrel and Boyd's varmit thumbhole stock.

Had loaded up some test loads of 147gr SMK's over 35.5 Varget. Got to shoot 6 times before the floods came.

Think I'm gonna like this gun and wondering if I should tinker with the loads!
 
Sooooo

Started to prep for Hopefully a desert range day tomorrow....

After Loading my 6 .223 mags i relized i only have 20 of MY loads left.... that JUST wont do:p

So had the pork loin on the barby.... Worthless preaseason games 4 on 3 of my Tv's...... and Headed to the Bench....

After about 40rds ish I started thinking.... based on Grover's Stuck case and Bill's Almost stuck case.... It dawned on me a couple tricks i use... And since im on my 3000+ rd's of reloads and only 1 stuck case in the EARLY stages of reloading (1st night:cool:)..... Im an Advanced nooby for sure....:D so Figured id Pass it on

I Start with either Hornady One Shot or Imperial Wax..... Today was One Shot.....
Sprayed em Once in my Box... Toseed em... Sprayed again... and repeated.
my 1st case i lube with Synthetic Motor oil.... and go to Town.... after maybe 20rds.. or when some seem a bit tight.... i do it again.... Now im talking a bit from the Cap of the Motor oil on my finger and lube sparingly.... seems to lube the die quite well.......

Now remember... i was Bar-B-Quing a pork Loin... so after Fondling that:)... Came back to my bench and 1st 2 cases where pretty tight... So hit em again with One Shot.... and Oil... And back at it.... about 130ish rd's loaded.... All weighted... and inspected... and ready for Tomorrow

I had 2 cases i almost STOPPED on Sizing because they seemed too Tight...... If it seems to Resist too much... STOP!.. pull it, place it in the TRIM box... and move on...

Anyways.... figured I pass on a few thoughts i had today....

cant wait for Tomorrow and lobbing Lead at all 6 Steel Plates i Have

John I was thinking the same thing...Stav....do you ever see the dimpling from too much lube on the shoulders of your cases? that is one thing I try to avoid and I was seeing some of that before I stuck my cases. I bought a can of Air today to try to freeze the case out of the die. If not I did buy a set of lee rgb (2 die set) that will be here Friday. Picked up 2 more lbs of CFE223 today plus 200 Armscor 55gr FMJ and some Winchester WLP large pistol primers. My nephews and friends come shooting with me a lot and being the frugal (cheap) person I am, I let them shoot up the Armscor and I save the good stuff for me. I rarely take any of them PDog hunting with me, they dont have the patience so I take them paper shredding, loaded right the armscor makes them think that they can shoot like a sniper anyway...LOL but back to the question. If you get too much lube on the shoulders of your cases they will start to dimple. they will fireform back out but I think it puts unnecessary wear on them.

Unfortunately that's not hoarding...Just the miscellaneous supplies and spare parts for my aquariums. If I got rid of my two 120 gallon tanks all that stuff on the shelves would be gone...only to be replaced with reloading gear. hahaha
 
Cool I have a 55 gallon saltwater tank with mostly fish from India my favorite is a chocolate chip star fish. Ill send a pic of my station when I get back I'm fixing my moms house in PA this week but since I am here in the Gun capital I plan on stopping in and drooling over the selections of toys :D

I am back down south to the wonderfully heat and rain lol. So far I have decapped the brass and tomorrow I am going to go to step 2 and tumble it clean again. what do you think of my setup so far?

That looks like a great setup. I hope those drawers are filled with components. :D
 
I am jealous, I just have a corner in our bedroom so far but someday.....

Ouch. I"M used to seeing them about $30/1000, or 5k for $145
Powder in 1lb containers is $16-27 depending on what/where.

I"m slowly deciding what I'm shooting (load/bullet) wise so it's time to start buying in bulk. At least for 38.

9mm I still have things to try out.

Want to start on 30/30 and 30-06 this winter, and perhaps some 357 loads. Get a second press...

As least I know what I want for christmas! (this year, next year, the year after...)

so were you able to remove the case, curious minds would like to know :D?
