My wife's best friend moved from here to a home on a lake in Lincoln County, Washington and we will be flying up from OKC in late August to visit her and her family. We will fly into Spokane and have a 5 day vacation and probably stay with them a couple days and are planning to fish and visit a winery then rent a car and travel around the area or maybe drive into Canada and stay in motels. Any advice on things to do in that part of the world?

Waterton and Glacier are not that far off. Fernie and Nelson are kind of close, both ski towns catering to the tourist trade and smelling of weed if you can stand the distraction of that there is dome nice scenery.
Great gun shop 10 years ago specializing in classic firearms. East of the interstate headed to the White Elephant store on E Sprague it was on the N side of the street. I first saw both a rifle and some ammunition for a 6mm Navy rifle there. Good people to visit with. Go to either of the White Elephant stores, great just to wander for firearms stuff.

In Canada, the drive through Fort Steele, Fairmont and Radium Hot Springs, Lake Louise, Banff, and the Canadian Rockies is absolutely breathtaking. Glacier is one of my favorite parks, I image Waterton is similar. Stateside, Grand Coulee Dam is worth the trip; my grandfather worked briefly there as a concrete form builder. Then head south to the Columbia River Gorge if you have time. Take a rafting trip down the Spokane River. The White Elephant store was one of my favorite places to shop, too, when I lived there.

Head east into the Idaho pan handle, Courdelane is a nice town.
I'll second that. I have a cousin who was an over-the-road trucker almost his entire adult life, so he has seen just about every part of every state in the Union - multiple times. Every time I see him he makes a point of telling me the Lake Coeur d' Alene area is the prettiest place he's ever seen.

P.S. If you have some time and would like to do some shooting, I know several good places in and around Spokane.

The best thing Spokane has going for it is that it's only 45 minutes from Couer d'Alene! I love the dry side of Washington, but I'm not a big fan of Spokane.

However, I really recommend Glacier National Park if you want to see some beautiful scenery. It's close enough to be do-able.

I thought Grand Coulee Dam was a good option, also. It's pretty impressive. They do (or did, I don't know) a laser light show on it at night, and it's kinda fun. Woody Guthrie even wrote a song about the dam!

Lake Coeur d' Alene is nice but a trip to the Grand Coulee Dam is where I take people who haven't been here.

Yeah, Coulee is pretty impressive, but not as pretty as CDA.
Though there is some pretty nice scenery north of the dam - a.k.a. Lake Roosevelt.
