WAR DECLARED in Israel

You dont want to know...it will send your (and ours) blood pressure through the roof.

My blood pressure is already there . . . and it was a legitimate sincere question. All I'll specifically allow is my view includes foreign AND domestic sources . . . and I figure I pretty much do know, but am open to being educated by something other than blind assertions

Sending you a PM...

I used to work with a guy from the area. when asked where he was from, Mustaffa would answer "From the region West of Jordan"
Even with first amendment protections, he could not even utter the name Israel.
Even after Nam, our animosities did not run so deep that we struck the name of the country from our language. We recognize the name Viet Nam.
We cannot even begin to pretend to understand the level of raw unbridled disgust involved.
About all we have solid is that the have a lot of experience killing and defending against eachother. and we really should not be playing with these kinds of toys, though our gov still loves to.
We cannot even begin to understand this

I’m wondering how the KSA will respond and whether the pseudo-normalization of its relationship with Israel is real.

In my mind, their position will greatly influence the ultimate stability in the Middle East region.

The United Nations acted in 1947 to partition the land then known as Palestine between those residents of Arab descent and those of Jewish descent, then issued the UN mandate creating the modern independent State of Israel in 1949.

The next day armies of 3 powerful surrounding nations attacked and invaded the new Israel and were only defeated very narrowly by the Israeli citizen-soldiers having very little beyond basic small arms (mostly European WW2 surplus and captured weapons smuggled into Israel during the British Mandate years following 1945).

Varying levels of hostilities continued without significant break until the 1973 Yom Kippur attack, with tanks and armored vehicles penetrating deeply into Israeli territory and very nearly succeeding in crushing the new Israeli Defense Forces. Prior to that military invasion the Arab nations warned Arab populations in Israel and urged them to evacuate to neighboring countries so as to allow the "Army of God" unimpeded pathways to victory. Those populations were received in refugee camps with very little sustenance or support from the host nations, and largely left to fester until the current times. Major propaganda value as refugees fleeing tyrannical Israeli treatment.

Terror attacks have been commonplace ever since. Public transportation, schools, and residential areas have been targeted by gunmen, bombers, and suicide attacks. Hamas has been the de facto ruler of Gaza, the modern state of Palestine (forced on Israel by international pressures), as well as much of Syria and Lebanon. Rocket and mortar attacks have been nearly daily events, launched from within cities, town, residential areas, and refugee camps. Not a year has passed without horrific outrages against Israeli civilians, children, and peaceful residential areas.

Militant terrorist activities have been documented within UN relief agencies, Red Cross facilities, schools, and medical facilities. Outside agitators are frequently involved in planning and coordinating the ongoing attacks. Rockets, missiles, artillery, mortars, and small arms are routinely provided to the militant groups and smuggles in to support these groups.

Any attempts by Israel to intervene, retaliate against unceasing attacks, or simply defend sensitive areas are loudly denounced as excessive, heavy-handed, genocidal, and outrageous behavior by the Israeli government.

Constant low-to-high level attacks, endless international pressures, a genuinely no win situation for the Israeli people. They will be damned if they do and butchered if they don't.

After 7 full decades of suffering and restraint I would not be surprised if the Israelis take a very hard line, massive retaliation, perhaps even the forced dislocation of whole populations within the known hot spots. Israel would certainly be denounced loudly and harshly, but that really would be no great change from what occurs daily anyway, and a modicum of peace might be achieved until the next round of the never ending war resumes.

How long would the American people suffer daily armed attacks, suicide bombings, mortar and rocket fire launched from a bordering nation into our cities, towns, schools, and hospitals? The demand for crushing military response would be impossible to ignore.

My best friend of fifty-three years and his wife arrived in Israel last night for a two week tour. His group was supposed to spend the night in Bethlehem but was held at the airport instead. The tour is currently on hold. He is concerned but not ready to head home yet.

History has shown us that these so-called intelligence failures are not really intelligence failures, but events are allowed to happen. "Never let a crisis go to waste."

The truth will eventually come out, but not from the main stream media.

Indeed, a very bad situation. Just keep poking the bear and see what happens.

Sir, I wish your friend a safe way home...

After reading a number of different news stories stating the scale, the number of attackers involved and number of targets hit, are we being told to believe that Israeli intelligence didn't know anything about this? They missed all the weeks/months of preparation and their human intelligence sources did the Sgt. Schultz with their Israeli contacts? Really!?

Sorry, not buying it.

That was my first thought. I think Bibi now has an excuse to make the west bank a smoking hole.

The whole truth quite often never comes out. ;)

Thank you. His tour was supposed to end in Jordan, where they would fly to Paris, France and on to Atlanta. Tomorrow he and his wife are scheduled to be baptized in the Jordan River. That should be a quick event.

DingDing ding…..you win a cigar. IDF needs to try out their new tanks with all the improved protection from every type of anti tank weapon. Sit back with pop corn and the drink of your choice….
