Was I Wrong Or Was She?

tacky at best.
I have never heard of that one that I recall.
Seems to me like the limit would be pinning a few on and waiting for people to ask WHY, and donate if they felt like it.

Charlie, I don't get the brass pole reference- you mean you tip fireladies? :D

I have never heard or seen this practice. It's about as bad as the tip jar placed at the register at take-out restaurants.

Is this like Pin the Tail on the Donkey?

You close your eyes and head for her with a dollar stuck to a straight pin?

That could be interesting.

I like Barb's answer. As most have said here, I've never heard of this tradition.

Smooth move Charlie. I saw this practice for the first time in my factory about 2 months ago. Till then, I'd never heard of it. It's not a Southern tradition that I'm aware of. It's just plain tacky, as others have said.

Perfect Charley!!!

and I've never heard of it anywhere anytime before this.

Maybe she is practicing for a career with the local democratic party machine....

I've never heard of it either. Pretty tacky though. If you want customers to give you dollar bills, you need to work somewhere besides a convenience store. I'm surprised the owner/manager would allow that kind of thing.

I have never seen this before and I have lived in the South all my life. All though were I grew up is more like N. NJ now. I wish I was quick on my feet with the come backs as you are Charlie. You done good.

Oh come on Charlie, it was the lady's birthday for crying out loud! She probably only has three or four birthdays a year...

I saw the same thing done by one of the female workers at the plant I use to work at. Talking to her and her friends, I got the impression it was common practice amongst her peer group. I don't think she was bright enough to have thunk it up all on her own!

Well heck, if I thought that would work for me, I'd put on a shirt with some dollars on it and walk around. How silly that is! She must be a very young person and rather full of herself with little regard for others.
IMHO
Sonny
