This morning, I did one of those private sales in a Wal-Mart parking lot to pick up a M&P 40c for my wife.

I figured what the heck, so walked inside to look at the WM ammo case. Darn if there wasn't (3) 250 round Mega Packs of Remington UMC 40 there in the case. After calling the store from my cell phone three times, I got an associate with a key and snapped up one box, leaving two boxes for other shooters.

Now I am doing my research to confirm that the UMC shoots okay in the M&P 40 and 40c.

Does anyone have actual experience to confirm that this ammo will perform for range shooting?

Thanks for your personal experiences.

I've been trying to find that at my local WM as well. I haven't tried it in my FS .40 yet either, it's just a few weeks old.

I've been trying to find a copy of the bar code to help me catch it in stock. Are you able to post a pic of the barcode to assist?

Let us know how it fires.

Works just fine in my FS M&P40 and Shield40. It's also some of the most "available" and reasonably priced I've been finding for range/target practice.

Works fine in a shield, hipoint and ruger. I just got one of those in 45acp also. First of those large packs I have seen in quite a while

I was greeted with the UMC 250 pack in 9MM ($0.24 per round after taxes) this morning at WMT. They also had 525 boxes of Golden .22LR ($0.044 TTL)!

I've gotten to "know" the guy at the counter the past few months and he said he shot a box of the UMC through his Glock a few weeks ago and told me it was a little dirtier than the Federal but performed OK. I bought one, left 5, and then grabbed 2 of the 525 goldens to round out my limit of 3 (left 8 of the Golden)!

Sorry it's not a report on 40 but maybe this helps!

Ha.... I've had to do that in the past. After 5 minutes of standing in front of the ammo case with no employee in sight I called up the store to have them send an employee over.

I've shot a fair bit of the UMC 40 caliber in the past 5 years and it's a decent target ammunition but can be a bit dirty to shoot. The only other potential negative is that the primers run a bit "hard" and I had to re-tune the mainspring tension in my S&W 610 in order for them to fire reliably in double action. This has NOT been an issue with any of my Semi's because my semi's don't feature the tuneability of a revolver and I am not about to install a lighter mainspring in a pistol I carry.

BTW, my first box of the 40 caliber UMC 250 pack cost me 67 dollars before taxes. That sort of gives you an idea how much ammo costs have increased since 2008 and why I now reload all of my ammunition. Consider this a Hot Tip, save your brass. When I decided to start reloading I had over 4000 40 caliber casings saved in my stash and that means I won't have to purchase any handgun brass for at least a year or more.

i have shot the remington ufc 250 round walmart packs from both my sigma and my 40C without a hiccup. they both like it and so do i when i can find it...

Have used hundreds of rounds in all my guns,,,never ever had a problem with it...as far a being dirty guess I haven't noticed it because I clean my guns after every range session so I don't see it as much.

Still have over 700 rounds in storage and will buy more when ever I can find it

I found it in 9mm by accident at WM as it doesn't show up in inventory. Got 2 boxes at 67.00 ea about as accurate as anything I've shot in 115 gr ammo.

Works fine in my .40 FS and Shield. I've also shot CCI Blazer Brass, American Eagle, and Speer Law Man with no problems.

Thanks for all the replies!

I will keep it and shoot it!

I scored (2) 100 round Value Packs of WWB this morning at my local WM.

40 cal is back!

I've ran several hundred rounds of it through my wife's G72 and my XDM with no issues, it is a little dirty though.

I've shot lots of Remington/UMC in various popular calibers and had lots of my Texas CHL students shoot it on the proficiency test.

I've found it to be adequate - a little weak and dirty - but good enough quality. I've seen some pistols jam and cycle slowly with it due to its weak power. Can't be too picky during the ammo shortage. I would use UMC over most of the foreign brands.

If you new pistol doesn't feed it well or cycle reliably, try other ammo brands before deciding something is wrong with your pistol.
