For years, the American beef counsel ran an ad asking the above.

Well here is my answer. A five rib Prime, standing rib roast. I was planning on roasting carrots and onions with the roast, but I'm not sure I can get everything in the pan. Oh-well.

Merry Christmas all. Gosh I can't say that enough.

Well at your age it's good not to have to chew to much............. watch out for those 3 ghosts tonight!!!!!!

:D

Tonight..........................
Going to broil some small lobster tails, along with bacon wrapped filets; baked potato on the side........ .....glass or two of Riesling...

for tomorrow we go to the In-laws!!!!!

Christmas Eve (tonight) is Wahoo (Ono) fish tacos.
Christmas Day is spiral cut, honey ham, potatoes au gratin, Scottish beer bread. and home made pie (apple?).

New Years eve is munchies (pids-in-blankets, chicken wings, cookies, veggies and dip) while we watch old movies. We have a wedding during the day.

New Years Day will be prime rib, another homemade pie (blackberry?), baked potatoes, home made biscuits, and a veggie.

During the week, I'll make beans with ham maybe a batch each of limas and red beans) and beef-barley soup (from leftover roast)=some french dip sandwiches and some ham sandwiches=maybe on home-made rye (?)

I'm doing a rib roast also. I will cook doing it with a reverse sear which gives results similar like to the video above. This you can do with the roast that isn't at room temperature. I season it the same; only I use olive oil to help to make the seasoning stick. I like to season the roast an hour or two before tossing it in the oven. I cook the roast in the oven at 225 degrees until the internal temperature reaches about 120 degrees. Then I I take it out of the oven and wrap the roast in foil which allows it to rest. I heat the oven up to 500. Once it is at 500 the roast goes back in the oven for 6 to 8 minutes. Then it is cut and serve. The results is nice crispy crusted outside with a perfect edge to edge medium rare and juicy roast.

Well, as it is just the wife and I this year, pizza tonight, and dinner at the casino tomorrow!
Of course we have been snacking most of today, as our rural neighbors have tradition of exchanging tray baskets of cookies etc. for Christmas. For lunch Cup-a-Soup to keep somewhat close to the diet!
Drinking diet ginger ale, which is a treat for me, as it is water most of the time!
So enjoying everybody else's holiday menus vicariously!
Have a good one everybody!
