What's your most recent firearm purchase, and why did you buy it?

I bought a 100 pc bag of Starline .32 H&R Magnum brass at a gunshow on Saturday, then on Sunday morning, I decided to walk thru one more time and bought a blue Harrington & Richardson top break revolver chambered in .32 S&W. Probably only about 50% finish left and a couple of spots of rust pitting but locks up tight plus it was only $92 OTD.

I have one that looks almost identical to yours, probably is. One thing that I discovered with mine was that when the hammer is down, the firing pin rests on the cartrige directly under it. So when I shoot mine, I leave an empty chamber under the hammer. I'll try to find a picture...pretty sure it's the same model.

Here is mine...

So my latest buy was a mint 3914nl w/ box and after talking things over with my ffl and thanks to the good info Gary provided, I am going to keep life simple and pickup 1 gun a week for a while and stay under the radar, plus the more I thought about it.. let’s say IF the atf showed up, I would get in more trouble with the wife asking... when did you get that one? or you bought how many?!! Can’t thank you enuf Gary, sure glad you chimed in when you did!

CS9 is my newest baby (been wanting one for years). Just finished mods to grip, sights, magazine (call it my stealth mode cs9 cuz it will fit my shorts front pocket).

les.b, yours looks to have more finish left than mine but I agree that they appear to be the same model. Pull the hammer back slightly and it should rest on a notch that keeps the firing pin from touching the cartridge primer. I suspect like other revolvers without a transfer bar, even with a hammer notch to keep the firing pin off the cartridge, dropping the revolver on the hammer could result in a discharge.

Walther PPK/S, German made 1975 because I've always wanted one to add to my collection and a stainless S&W PPK/S (still at LGS) for a backup piece mainly because they're becoming very pricy and hard to find.

Nice buys! You got a fellow fan here! All German ones are crazy in price on auction sites now, congrats on that one. Can't believe how prices have changed over last couple years! I have 1988 interarms stainless 380 PPK (same slide, shorter grip as you know). It's my pocket gun for summer shorts. Wearing walnut grips from grips4u (a picture below, just for fun).
Fun shooters, and accurate! As you probably know, don't grip too high on German model...slide bite! (Extended beaver tail on s&w saves ya from that, and improved feed ramp). Enjoy those beauties!

As soon as I saw what they were bringing, even the S&W, I ran back to my LGS and put the other one on law-a-way, which I'm on the way to pick up now! I'll update next week with photos.

Smith & Wesson 986 Pro 2.5" got rid of my semi autos (arthritis) have lots of 9MM around getting old and hands don't like recoil so it was this or a .357
Have not fired it yet might regret it once I do.

Hey ger42...cool gun, that's a moon clip 9mm right? Your hands will love a quality moon/demoon tool also. I have a 625(.45 revolver), and after mooning up a couple boxes, i'm about done. But don't have a good tool yet. Must be for concealed carry if you went with 2.5" huh? Great size to pack...but longer barrel (4, 5, 6") sure would help with recoil. I don't think recoil will bother you too much with heavy frame gun and 9mm. Way less than .357! Not sure how it would compare with .38 special though, which you could shoot out of .357 like 686, etc. Right grips make a big difference too. Enjoy that one!

I sold my 90 year old Colt 1911, and got a new SW1911CT, and some cash. I inherited it from my father 40 years ago, but we never shot it together. It was kind of cool to own a 90 year old gun, but I could not see the tiny sights anymore, and all of my guns have to earn their keep.

As promised.

Nice example of S&W PPK/S. Those look so nice with wood grips (altamont has some very reasonable)...and let's you put those stock grips away to keep them pristine. I'd be anxious to see what you think after taking them both to the range, and comparing the W. German to S&W version. Crimson trace made laser grips for the PP and PPK/s, that come up on ebay pretty cheap sometimes (seen em go for as low as $65 (used)!!...but often times as high as $450new, as they are now discontinued). Always thought that would be cool mod for PPK/s. Was item #LG480, I kind of keep an eye on them to possibly score one those killer deals one of these days. Example of ended listing below, great condition with box and instructions for $65 with free ship! Crimson Trace LG-480 red dot laser grip for Walther PP or PPK/S | eBay

I have these grips on one of my 45s, my Sig C-3. As far as shooting the W. German, I'm not, which is unusual for me as I don't buy guns I can't shoot, but in this case the W. German hasn't been shot since the factory target shot because there is absolutely zero carbon or fouling what-so-ever in the gun at all.

Don't blame ya a bit there. Like you, I shoot pretty much everything I own. But your German PPK/s is only going to keep going up in value (especially in that condition) and you can use the S&W as your shooter. I shoot my interarms PPK regularly...as it's my warm weather and pocket carry. The German PP .32 only gets shot on special occasions.
