My most recent purchase was a Smith and Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380. I bought this gun for personal defense. It has been one of my better purchases. I love the gun. It shoots great. I was a little worried that at first that a 380 would not be enough, but after some research into ammunition, it is by far enough to stop a threat. Most of the people in my volunteer fire department carry this caliber and love it. I would recommend this gun/caliber to anyone looking for a carry gun or back up.

610 no dash 5” and a New Model Ruger Blackhawk 357. I ordered wood grips for the Ruger and ammo for the 610 - arriving in two days. I think the Ruger is heavier. ?

The towel was (accidentally) stolen from my gym. ?

Ok well it was a crazy weekend and I went a little nuts and picked up these in the last couple days..
945pc compact, 4576 mint in box, 4513tsw pre rail w/box, a Super 9(which I never thought I would see, had to have it!) a nice clean 39-2 w/box and a custom carry Les! All should hit my ffl about the sametime this week!! And why? That is a damn fine question..

Remember, a purchase of more than 1 hand gun on the same 4473 will cause your FFL to instantly notify the ATF about your multiple hand gun purchase. If you're cool with that, that's fine. I'm just telling you in case you didn't know. GARY

****! You did go nuts. I'd be on sleepin' on the sofa for a month!

Nice scores! Don't forget to upload some nice pics!

Nope didn’t know that thanks! But my ffl only charges $15 for up to 5... good to know, but doesn’t bother me.

Normally when you buy a gun, the 4473 sits in the FFL's files until the owner retires, so the ATF never knows what you own, unless they backtrack a gun used in a crime. But buy 5 at a time, & the ATF is immediately notified. You can expect a visit. GARY

Well that ought to be interesting, i have done it several times now, never had anyone look twice, I mean why would I spend $15 fives times for 5 guns, and what difference would it make if I file 5 forms for 5 guns or 1 form for 5, they can come look all they want, I am a ccw holder and I collect guns, it’s not like I am buying a truckload of ARs or something, and if they do check me out, they should be spending that time on a real criminal, I for one don’t have anything to hide.

Gary is simply pointing out something that not everybody knows. Not that it should cause the average law abiding gun purchaser sleepless nights...but knowledge is good. However, in my experience, not everybody "can expect a visit" if they purchase more than one gun at a time. The ATF would need to hire a few thousand more agents to do that I would think.

Above and beyond that, the ATF rule states the FFL must report not only if 2 or more guns are purchased at same time...but more than 1 that are purchased within 5 consecutive business days of each other. So if you are trying to avoid your FFL needing to report, you need to do more than simply use separate forms. You'd need to space them out 5+ days. I don't think I would bother doing that...especially if it would cost me $75 instead of $15 (plus maybe additional charges for NIX check, etc).

But good topic. I wonder if anybody here has "had a visit" from ATF for buying 2 or more handguns at same time. I haven't...but would be happy to make them a coffee and show them my collection if they wander by :)

My friend, & many customers at work have gotten visits from the ATF for this exact reason. They just wanted to see the guns to make sure they were still there, & that none had been sold. There are MANY out there who would GLADLY spend $75, vs $15 to keep the ATF out of their life. GARY.

Makes sense. They are probably trying to make sure people aren't involved in selling guns as a business....without becoming FFL. I rarely would buy more than one at a time anyway, simply because I don't have that kind of money! But again, good information and I appreciate you bringing it up.

1 complete BCM AR15, two stripped lowers 100 Pmags and an FN509 today on a sweet deal for firearms instructors.

Looking at a 3” 629

Because this is America!!!

Yes I agree it’s good information that I didn’t know, and Gary, I didn’t mean to sound abrasive if I did, apologies..it will cause me to think a little more about timing of gun purchases going forward, but at the sametime I am not trying not to get reported, I mean what are they going to say? Or do? if I get checked out well then I guess they are doing there job, not worried at all. Infact on one front, the ffl says the state (fl) only requires them to be kept for 30 days and then they toss them, otherwise the would need another building just to store forms. I have 2 more that interest me and will get soon and then I should be done for a while, I certainly will let you guys know if anything comes about from this binge.. the only thing I really am hiding is how many I tell the wife I bought.

One time before I knew about the additional form I bought a Glock model 40 and a Ruger Blackhawk within 5 business days at the same store. The only reason I knew that I did this was when I went back and checked my records after hearing about it. This was about 8 months ago and I haven't had any visits from the ATF.

I won't do it again though. I currently have 2 guns waiting to be picked up and I'll be waiting a week for each one. It's less paperwork for my FFL.

Well here's the REAL story. I work for the largest FFL in Florida, & help 2 others doing gun shows in the state. A FFL MUST keep every 4473 until the day he retires. He then must turn them over to the ATF after he retires. No way around that. What your FFL was referring to was after the background check is completed, the FDLE, who does the background check in Florida must destroy any records of the background check after 72 hours. Florida State law. GARY.

Thanks that sounds familiar, do you think my FLL will have a problem with me picking up say 1 a week, for the next month or so? And will that keep me ‘off the radar’? How would you go about getting them? I do plan on getting 2 more next week so there will be 7 I need to clear, man I didn’t think collecting could be a pain.. sorry to the group for high jacking this thread.
