Dumb question - which way do you turn sight adjustment screws?

Model 66-2.

Vertical adjustment - Clockwise = up?
Horizontal - Clockwise = right?

I just bought this gun a week ago. It shoots great but the grouping was high & right at 7 yards. The guy who owns the range made a change and it was pretty close to spot on. I didn't see which way he turned the screws.

Also is there any rule of thumb about how many clicks to move the impact point a given amount? Say I want to move it 2" at 50 feet, is there formula for how much one click is worth?

Thats a good question. My 1911 was shooting to the left. I moved the rear sight a little more than a 1/16'' to the right and it shoots fine now.

Clockwise is down and right on S&W adjustable sights.
The screws and clicks are all the same so the value depends on the sight radius. It will be in fractions of an inch at 50 yards. I start out making sizeable adjustments by the turn, not the click.

Sight adjustment screws

Turn them in the direction you want the bullet to go.
