I shot a S&W Miculek revolver, but it must have been defective because I couldn't even approach Miculek's times. Maybe I'll have better luck with a Massad Ayoob signature Ed Brown?
He should start shooting a revolver. Most revolver competitors are using revolvers with actions that are so light that it no longer feels like shooting a revolver. I think he could transition easily and win at the top level. Miculek, despite his numerous speed shooting records which will probably never be beaten, has been vulnerable lately in the matches. I think that Sevigny could pull it off and I'd love to see him do it as an "afterthought" without any support whatsoever from S&W. If I'm not mistaken, Leatham once finished second OVERALL at the IRC with an iron sighted revolver, beating every open shooter except Miculek. That is an absolutely stunning accomplishment and Sevigny is talented enough that he could do the same.Dave Sinko
Unless you are a Miculek or a Leatham or such and can get some sort of long term contract, shooting pays zilch. Companies will easily give you product and let you wear their shirt if you have won a couple championships, that cost them nothing, but MONEY is a different deal.
When your young its great running around shooting matches winning stuff and being somebody , BUT their comes a time when you have to start considering , things like pension, house payment etc. So guys, have a couple choices , hawk products for a living, or eventually have to jump ship to make a real living. Thats why military/ police shooters have a good deal because they are at least earning a salary and building a future.
Gun companies are pretty fickle, here today, gone tomorrow. Depending on what some guy in marketing has to say.
And you are exactly right the brand of gun hasnt made any of these guys good shooters ( except S/W revolver) no other option.Give any top shooter, pretty much anything with a trigger and a sight, that is reasonably accurate and they will beat 98% of their opponents. Due to skill, dedication, and experience.
Sevingy has helped glock alot more than they helped him, but it was a good niche before other companies came up with comparable pistols to glocks format. MY .02 Bob

In a word, Yes.
Take it from one who knows, brother Toco, Mas Ayoob is DEFINITELY easier to beat than Jerry Miculek!
