No flame intended but why do they put radioes with music on motorcycles?

I'd rather listen to the bike than music.

For the most part, I agree. But, when you're doing a long distance interstate drone, the constant hum of the motor & wind noise can cause noise fatigue, which is NOT a good thing. I always wore a set of headphones inside my helmet, or at least earplugs.

For all the Motorcycle riders in the drift! ;)
This show, this song almost made me want to buy one!

The thing I liked most about the show were the"Bronson Rocks"!
He would wreck the bike pretty bad, & somehow, with just rocks he found by the side of the road, he would pound out the dents & somehow get paint back on the tank. Even did engine work with them too, if I remember correctly...:D

I forgot hubby took snaps on that first re-acquaintance ride 30yrs after getting my MC license. Should have been a pilots license, cause I was on cloud 9.

Gathering for the bike blessing.

Police escort for the ride to the bike blessing messes up jurisdiction hand-off. Caused us to shut down the Long Island Expressway in one direction.

We lived in rural Gaithersburg MD. When I was about 11 or 12. Really rural, most likely totally built up now? I had a pond to fish, biggest bass caught was around 4#, and untold numbers of bluegill and crappie. I bought a glass recurve, maker forgotten, but not a name brand. Practiced during the summer, and that fall, rabbit and squirrel hunting. Used my first flu-flu arrows for squirrels in the tree. Got several and my only quail on the fly with an arrow. I think the quail ran into the arrow! 😉 Got several on the ground, and a couple of rabbits for the season. Last day of the season I attempted a shot on a rabbit sitting! Came to full draw, and as I was ready to release the upper limb shattered/exploded/? Luckily I wore glasses as I had several fiberglass shards in my cheeks. Really soured me for a few years. My thought now is I have a long draw, 33" now so maybe 30" then, and overstressed a cheaper bow? Maybe a manufacturering defect ?
Can't remember any adjustment from the store I bought it from, but was a number of years before I tried a bow again, then a name brand, Pearson I believe? Wanted a Bear but did not have the money. Almost got a Herters but was suspicious of buying through the mail?

Typhoon warning... Houston should get that any day now. Back in 1945 on the USS Yolo off the beaches of Okinawa.

June 4, 1945

The watch had me up early with the message to execute typhoon plan. The Navy publications supplied information on its details and to its application in this area. I even read "Knight's Modern Seamanship". By breakfast I had a real working knowledge of the situation. Information received during the morning indicated that the storm would pass to the east sometime tomorrow morning. Throughout the day gear was lashed down and articles stowed. Beginning at noon the torrential rain started and the wind increased. With my Alaska experiences I respect all storms. In any case Yolo is prepared to move on a moments notice.

At 0500 the marines landed on two small islands on the East Side. Ashore, in a pre-invasion warm-up, the bombardment vessels began an unending shelling of the area. It was one of the most intense bombardments we have heard in some days. For several hours the guns boomed until it was a constant rumble. The beach was lashed by almost 4500 shells. The bombardment paved the way for the landing of the 6th Marine Division on the Oroku Peninsula. Attacking through mud and rain, by the day's end they seized half of the Naha airfield. Later the Quay wall at the Naha harbor was cleared for the discharge of several LCMs and LCTs.

By radio we heard that Halsey's fleet is on the move again, this time to raid the fields of Kyushu. Bad weather impaired the effectiveness of the raids. Only 30 enemy were destroyed while our losses numbered 16. Enemy airborne interception was of high quality and exceptionally strong. While the Okinawa campaign draws to a close other areas are raided. At 1245 Ikeya Shima was secured. No enemy troops were encountered. Some 27 LSTs were involved.

At 1935 things changed dramatically. Word was received to get underway and proceed to a rendezvous point where Yolo is to take station in a convoy of 60 LSTs screened by Wadsworth (DD 516), Carlson (DE 9), Swearer (DE 186) and two sweeps. Five LST group commanders were called to the flagship and all LSTs were divided into three groups. Yolo was in the third group. The movement order was executed and Yolo was underway. Convoy position was found with a minimum of difficulty in spite of the dark and the groups were on their way for Nago Wan. To com¬plicate matters the word was passed to maintain flash red, and as the ships departed smoke was still bellowing from the large ships in the anchorage.

Monday morning I'll have an arteriogram to try to determine why I have only 45% circulation (and a lot of pain) in my right leg and some circulatory problems elsewhere.

The best outcome would be for my vascular surgeon to read the scan and determine that stents will alleviate the right leg problem. If that's the case he'll go ahead and insert them then and there.

If stents won't do the job it would require more extensive surgery. I really don't see how I could agree to that. I have no one to help me and care for my little dog.

Anyway, I'm trying to stay in today, but I would appreciate it if those of you who are so inclined could say a prayer or two for me. You were wonderful about that when my brother died, almost two years ago.

Thanks in advance.
