Wearing a face mask...

Another thing to consider is co-evolution. Oftentimes, microbes will evolve along with their hosts, resulting in reduced lethality in order to prolong the period of infection and, thus, replication. I've seen studies suggesting this is already happening with Ebola virus.

It is disgusting to me to observe how easily people will submit to totalitarianism. Again, I ask, where do these governing powers get the authority to do make these laws?

Second hand smoke, gun control, global warming, COVID 19... "if it saves just one life.

Fear overrules common sense.

Where do these governing powers get the authority to make these laws? Well, we live in a democratic republic - meaning we elect the representatives in our government who pass the laws we must abide by. If you want to know who gave the representatives the authority to make these laws, well, uh, YOU DID. Oh, and me too, since I voted as well.

And now we're right back to the point of the old cliche "elections have consequences", where you have several options: Run a recall campaign and replace the bums you don't like; sue them in a court that has jurisdiction; not obey the rules and deal with the consequences (where you might just end up in court so you will have your chance to make your argument); move to a different location with different rules that you like better; or go along with it for now and make a different choice in the next election!

But laws are not unconstitutional just because you think so.

The Constitution put a specific process in place to determine that.

That's why we have the separation of powers and judicial review. Many laws have indeed been found unconstitutional throughout our history. If you think you have a case, make it in the courts or find someone who will. If you can't, you're probably wrong.

Arbitrary man made laws dreamed up by some no nothing county judge, listening to their trusted source on something that no one really has the right answers and causing panic. Even Yosemite Sam wore a mask. Why not just develop a public campaign on washing hands and not touching your face for starters.

But it’s more than just hand washing and not touching your face. A whole LOT more, in fact.

I’ve said it before - we wouldn’t need these rules, laws, executive orders and whatnot if only we had a better educational system and a higher level of general education in this country; we would all just know better. Unfortunately there are also a lot of folks who don’t have much concern for the problems their actions cause others as well. So since we can’t rely on their knowing better or caring about others then our elected officials are forced to put these rules in place and now ALL of us have to deals with the consequences.

My wife was crying last night watching protesters on the news. She is seeing people die daily in her job, and people are on the news calling it a hoax. I’ve never seen her cry before.

Not all the deaths are people with pre existing conditions. My aunt is one of them. This thing is real people. Do the right thing. Wear the mask wag your hands.

I know plenty of people who have died or been seriously injured in automobile accidents. Let's ban cars. Or maybe set the speed limit at 5 mph. "if it saves just one life/it's for the chillin'".:mad::eek:

Try that analogy with the hospital workers in NYC. Maybe they'll have a moment of enlightenment where they realize that all those people dying and on ventilators are the same as automobile accident victims. Then they can relax and it can be work as usual.
