NY Found A away Around the SC Carry Decision

If you look at a map of the individual NY counties, it was MASSIVELY red, with tiny blue dots in Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and of course NY City... If ALL the red people in the towns and villages got out and voted, WE could take back the state.

Fun Fact of the Day: Area =/= people.

Population of all of New York State: 20.2 million. Population of New York City, Westchester and Nassau counties: 11.2 million, or 55.5%. Add in the 700,000 people who live in your "welfare cities" (whatever that term is supposed to mean) of the Big Four -- Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany -- and it's closer to 60%.

If you look at a USA map of the 2020 election, there were red states and there were blue states. NY was a blue state.

If you look at a map of the individual NY counties, it was MASSIVELY red, with tiny blue dots in Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and of course NY City.

Obviously, the welfare cities are predominately democrat, and in many cases have heavy population density. They always say that NYC is what drives the state.

HOWEVER, I have to say that WE are all responsible for what happens. If ALL the red people in the towns and villages got out and voted, WE could take back the state.

We have met the enemy and they are us.

From what I could see the turnouts from the rural areas was good, but that few square mile dump at the end of the Hudson River has a lot of people.

As a long time NRA member and also long time member of the state Rifle and Pistol Association the people I talk with are making some moves concerning legal actions. It appears unfortunately a bunch will be thrown out, but some will remain.

Its going to be whole new ball game here. A good bet is the SCOTUS will not like al lot of the end runs the New York City people and their allocates are doing and issue some clarifications. (we shall see)

At 77 I will only have to put up with this BS for a little while, but my kids are now taking up the cause.

Same war everywhere.........URBAN VS. RURAL.

And the rural people are losing.........everywhere.

We are just lucky to have a Trump appointed Supreme Court.

We need to challenge as many gun control laws as we can as soon as possible.

This NY law is a no brainer. It will be overturned quickly.

There are already several suits filed. Some by heavy hitters that will get it fast tracked……But the sad thing is if every gun owner in NY voted they current group of politicians would loose in a landslide. I guess some people would rather complain than do something.

Staten Island has NYC'''s highest handgun ownership per capita

Less than 20% of all New Yorkers own guns. NYC is under 2%.

Try being a S&W collector even in a rural part of New York and you'll see the truth of it. As an example, I've seen literally two Model 10s for sale (bought 50% myself) in the past five years at the roughly a dozen shops I stop at regularly when I'm out for a drive.

I believe in the SCOTUS decision, it specifically mentioned it wouldn't be kosher to blanket everywhere as off limits. So they have already thumbed their nose at SCOTUS. I suspect they will take it up quickly.

Rosewood

Conversely, city-neighboring Nassau and Suffolk counties have loads of great local gun shops and plenty of clientele. Their respective permitting offices aren't nearly as friendly as certain upstate counties, however.

I lived in NY for 65 years before moving to Arizona. There is a clip from the movie "My Dinner With Andre" called NY is a prison. Maybe someone smarter than me can upload it.

First of all I admit to not being very good at deciphering legalspeak, and I did not read all 84 billion words of the new law.

However, it is my opinion that the highlighted portions above only apply to NEW applications. If you already have a NY permit you don't have to do anything else. Of course you can't use it anywhere.

The SAFE act required recertification every 5 years, and that is also detailed. It was (is?) without a new fee and could be done online. Sure, its a pita but its not all that hard to do.

I hope I'm right. Time will tell.

Licenses have expiration dates now. Whether a county sheriff enforced them is irrelevant. When they come up for renewal, a new application must be filed. That means fees and social media inspection at the very least.

They don't care. The SC doesn't make law. It interprets them. An application to be heard in front of the Supreme Court has to go through all the other channels first before it can be heard again. They don't care. If it buys them 5 years of this nonsense before the SC gets to rule on it that's 5 years of fees and restricting gun ownership. If the next ruling goes against them again, NY will make another law around it and they'll play the game again until the court leans left and then they'll win.

The tides have turned against us. I don't see a way back. My children will not enjoy firearm ownership like I have. Yeah, I'll keep voting pro 2A, but it won't matter.

Drumminor, I too live in WNY. I could not name a dozen gun shops near me. Last model 10 I bought I drove to Rochester for. GO BILLS !!!!!!

I live on the border with NY, I'm on one side of Lake Champlain, NY on the other. I like NY, shop there often, love the scenery, like the people. Many here can't separate the gun laws from the people and state.... I can, and I can say I Love NY...NY the place, not the government. With that said, when Cuomo was shown the door, I half-jokingly told some friends of mine across the pond to be careful what they wished for. I had no idea I would be so right!

Make that ballistic nylon, and we wear kevlar gloves, as short track ice blades are razor sharp.

If you have deep pockets, 100 mil? , you had a better chance of getting a carry permit in NYC.
One of my younger brother's rich buddies got his permit, chambered a round with his new PPKs, and blew a hole in his thigh.

One of my Dad's cousins business partners got a permit for a gun in their lighting supply store in Brownsville Brooklyn long ago.
Bragged about it and the robbers knew where it was, took it and shot him dead within the first week.

My licence was granted in 1972. It was target and hunting only. It was stamped "Good until revoked".

Starting my own business in 2002, I had it upgraded to full carry. It now says "expired when revoked".

SAFE said I had to renew every 5 years. I have done that twice now.

I would appreciate links to your comments.

I'm 72 and are in the same boat. My kids are avid conservatives as well, and are taking up the cause. The problem is that there are not enough of us.

Kids today are more interested in Farcebook and partying. Unless we involve EVERYONE, we'll lose the battle.

I misspoke. Permits have to be recertified every 5 years thanks to the Safe Act. I know when the governor signed the new law, one of the new regulations was reapplying every 5 years, with a full alllicstion and background check done.

You're right, Hochul is Cuomo in a skirt!

But the good news is - the SC sent the case back to the District Court where Bruen started, the judge scheduled return date of August 15 for answers prior to the hearing for the injunction. The state lawyers requested a continuance, claiming so many issues were being contested that they needed more time to prepare a response. He told them you are familiar with the issues and told them responses were due August 15 (this was the week before).

The writer of the article also mentioned that the judge told them the Supreme Court said sensitive areas could be declared, but they were to be used sparingly.

And yet it's 8/23 and no word.
