Rick Nahas has done the heavy lifting on the 5th Ed. with extensive listings of new models and updates on existing models and variations. He's also tackled the herculean task of accumulating Product Codes.

We're giving some thought as to how to best report these. We've taken a couple different approaches. Usually PC's for a specific model are included with that model listing. Also, sometimes there will be a group of model codes compiled for a much larger group, such as all Performance Center guns.

How do you use the Product Codes reported in SCSW?
What would be the most useful way to present them?
Are they best grouped with the models, or would there be a use for compilation of all PC's in one place? And if the latter, should they be listed numerically or by model?

We may not have time to tackle the compiled master list, and there may not be enough pages, but is it worth considering?

Thanks - Jim

I'm pretty much a newby to to world of S&W guns, I enjoy going through the catalog and looking at the different models and stuff. But one of the things I'd like to suggest is a section that explains the meaning of the alphabet codes that follow the production codes. I've managed to figure out some like TH=target hammer for example but some I just can't figure out

thanks, looking forward to the 5th edition.

Please give details as to the initials used in the descriptions.

thanks for getting back to me.

while looking for details of what you asked about, I quite literally stumbled onto what I was looking for. On page 339, are the feature codes for autoloaders. so then I found the feature codes for revolvers from 1957 - present on page 200-201.

I originally looked through the main content section and couldn't find any reference to what I know now as "feature codes". I guess for my 2 cents worth would be, they weren't easy to find? but they are listed. and that's what was important, was to find what the codes mean.

thanks
Bryce
