Ruger makes quality guns that with normal use will probably last for the life time of the owner, but in my opinion they do not have the classic looks and value of either Colts or Smith & Wessons. I've been told more than once that I'm just an old curmudgeon.
One afternoon I lost my 5906 in a scuffle with a robbery suspect. By the grace of God, he did not know how to release the safety. I've been retired 13 years and I still like pistols with safeties.
The more you carry a blued gun in a holster, the faster the bluing will wear off, and depreciate the value of it. You may want to find a stainless steel gun to carry. These older guns just keep going up in value.
America is going down hill rapidly. I've been retired 13 years and still miss it, but, when I watch the news, I'm glad I'm retired. It's hard to imagine being a young man or woman today and starting a 30 year career in law enforcement.
These old guns are too nice and to valuable to be holstered. I keep all of my blued guns oiled and in plastic zip lock bags. They are truly an investment and will continue to appreciate in value, unless at some time in the future our government decides to take guns away from law abiding citizens.
Our country is in a downward spiral, both spiritually and morally, and I believe that we are heading towards anarchy. We truly need a Spiritual revival in America.
That is a beautiful gun. The grips are original S&W, but gun usually came with the Magna grips as a rule. I would estimate value of this gun about 650 to $750.
