Anyone know why the Model 360 is not marked for +P on the barrel? This gun has the same scandium frame as the .357 M&P 360 and the same cylinder as the 442 so there is no question that it can handle +P rounds.

Plus P

All literature states that the Scandium Model 360 is rated for the +P. It is also assusmed that it will take the +P because of the strength of Scandium.. I own one myself and handles them with no problem. As far as the notation on the barrel, can't answer that one.

You would have to ask the factory that question. Funny that it will safely shoot +P, but you cannot scrub the face of these titanium cylinders with certain abrasives or you will ruin them!

The 360PD has the Ti cylinder. The 360 (which is what I have) has a blued steel cylinder.

I shot mine for the first time last Saturday. My LCR has a much better DA trigger, but the little 360 has the best single action trigger of any revolver I've ever shot. It's light and crisp with no creep at all.

The 360J, which is the .38spl model, does not have a titanium cylinder.

Interestingly, not only does it not say +P, it doesn't even say .38 S&W SPL. The barrel shroud reads "S&W .38 CAL", .

It's plenty strong and will handle more than +P .38's. I had mine rechambered to 9x23, I've fired 9mm (standard, +P, and +P+), .38 Super, and 9x23 Winchester out of it with no ill effects.

WC, did you happen to shoot any 38 Supers in it prior to your mod? My 38 ammo fits nicely into the cylinder, but have not shot it yet.

No, I never thought of it beforehand as I was only interested in shooting 9x19, didn't own a Super then. I bought a couple of .38 Super pistols after the work was done so I have ammo on hand now and shoot it out of the 360J from time to time.

So you can chamber and shoot 38 Super in an unmodified J-Frame 38 Special?

Depends on the gun and brand of ammo, but a lot of .38 and .357 guns will chamber and fire .38 Super without any problems. My 586 L-Comp does.

I have also come to believe it will definately work in 357 guns, in fact much better than using 38 Specials in the 357. I think a modern day 38 Special made like the 360 (with Scandium and Stainless cylinder) as WC has modded is fine, but I am not sure with the pressure difference between the 38 Special and the 38 Super would be safe in a standard 38. Or at the least the older ? ones. The 357 is obviously made to these higher pressures. I think there is a little thought process here and just trying to be careful.

That was what I was getting at. The 38 Super is for all intents and purposes a rimless 357 Magnum. I can see where it would not be a problem shooting 38 Super in a scandium 38 Special J-Frame that uses the same frame as the 357 J-Frame. But in any other 38 J-Frame it could cause some serious problems.
