Go to any holster manufacturer site that list holsters by gun.
Select Smith and Wesson and count the umpteen thousands of models of handguns listed.
I mean really....you can't produce that many different models and have any kind of QC worth a nickel.

Agreed but you have to remember that S&W has been around forever and once in a while you are going to get a screw up or two.
My range buddies tell me I am either enchanted, blessed, or so lucky I should buy lottery tickets everyday as I have owned the original Shield, currently own the Shield Plus and the CSX E series....all of which have been failure free in all aspects from day 1 out of the box...so maybe I am lucky....but I see other's having problems and sometimes think that the first 3 months of any S&W new release the QC is the buying public reporting back problems.

The BG2 is a very innovative feature rich highly concealable semi 380 auto.

It could have been “380 Handgun of the Decade”.

Minus the shameful lists of poor design, quality control, and poor customer service, I would have paid $600 or $700 for a super high quality, well tested defense handgun with features and handling like the BG2.

As a marketing executive for S&W I would have targeted a very large number of serious current and new gun owners looking for a RAT (Reliable And Trustworthy) highly concealable, very comfortable, defense carry.

I would have contracted with MagGuts for +2 kit making a 12-round and a 14-round pair a mags. And, XS Sights for the right sights, and Muddy River Tactical to include a kydex pocket holster.

I would have contracted with Hornady, Federal, and Speer to test their best 380 defense ammo in it.

I would have offered a 30-day money-back guarantee…. If you don’t like it within 30 days, send it back for a full refund. After 30 days if you want to buy a 2nd one, you get $100 off.

Yeah, Yeah, I know.😜

I guess I'm lucky too. Bought a Shield when they first came out it was awesome with no problems at all, then an M&P .40 first generation and I think I had one failure to fully go into battery with cheap ammo in the beginning and it was then 100% reliable after that. Then I bought a 4" M&P 10mm that has been wonderful and perfectly reliable and is now my favorite handgun out of the 20 or so I own. I'm still able to buy old Smith revolvers cheaper than the new ones and I like them a little better anyway, so no reason personally to buy a new S&W revo.

If you decide to go to work for S&W let me know, I will get you 100 glowing reference letters.

I've said the same thing some years back when S&W started having trouble screwing revolver barrels on straight.

No I have never wondered that. The internet has lots of gun problems. Many are imaginary. Relatively few are S&W.

By the way, my XDM 9 and M&P 9 fit the same holster.

I don't know. My 1.0 4&1/4" 9 & .40, 2.0 5" 9 & 40, 2.0 4&1/4" 40, 1.0 5" 9 , 1.0 subcompact .40, 2.0 compact .40 4" and 2.0 4&1&4" all fit in in the OWB Safariland holster I used to use to carry one of them all the time.

I will admit, with my new Safariland holster that accommodates the 1.0 5" 9MM with the dot optic and light on the rail only works with the 1.0 5" The 2.0 models will not fully insert and lock into it. Some holsters are much more specific as to fit/function than others.

If you think S&W makes too many semi auto pistol models take a look at a CZ catalog from 5 to 10 years ago. Eight of my CZ pistol models I really like have been dropped by CZ in the last 5 years or so. Oops, make that 9. Forgot about the CZ75 Omega 9MM.

I think most people who gripe about QC know very little about the topic. I own more S&W and Colts than "Carter has pills" and have NEVER experienced the type of operational or finish problems reflected by some. And every one of them are more accurate than I am.

A good friend has a son who works for one of the major gun manufacturers (not S&W). The son stated the other day that there is no QC and problems are routinely ignored and the employees are told to just ship the products. Apparently the managers are counting on most end customers not shooting the product and the majority of other customers not returning problem products for repairs.
