I have a question,
Could one mill another slot in the picitinny rail over the charging handle?
On my sports rail right above the charging handle the rail becomes flat. I wonder if there is a significant reason for this.
What I'm trying to do is move my sight back enough to place a magnifier. I see everyone using the red dot magnifier combo without a back sight. If I could just mill a slot for me to move my sight back about half an inch it would make more then enough room for my magnifier.
I refuse to remove my sights, not to mention I want to keep my cowitness.

Anyone with an idea feel free to answere.

I suspect that it may weaken the receiver in that area because of the cuts for the charging handle or interfere with the charging handle.

Be aware that any machining will eat through the anodizing and leave the bare aluminum open for corrosion.

That area is also left flat for a fold down style rear sight, according to my cousin, they left that area unmilled so that the sight didnt stick out and get in the way of anything.
