I just bought XS sights for my bg2 and figured I’d get a jump start on things by taking the oem sights off. They were on there TIGHT but I managed to get them off with a sight pusher. I knew the striker plate was held on by the rear sight but thought it would be on there tight so I was surprised when it and the striker just fell right out. I put things back together but now I’m wondering if I might have lost something?

I never noticed before but now when it’s all put together I can hear a rattling sound from the rear. When I take the slide off the striker is loose, I can move it forward and back a little bit and there’s no tension on it.

When it’s all put together it seems like it works, the trigger clicks just like it should but I’m wondering if there was some little piece that fell out that I have t found.

Any thoughts?

I dont remember any 'small pieces' there, it was a straighforward matter despite not being intimately familiar with the gun. And yes the 'striker plate' fell right off. With the slide reassembled, yes, the striker moves freely for 1/8 inch or so before encountering the spring. The only small pieces in the slide I can think of would be the firing pin block and the extractor?

With the gun unloaded and pointed at the ceiling, take a pen with a hard cap on the back like an old BIC pen, drop the hard cap end down the barrel until it stops at the breech face, and pull the trigger. If the pen gets hit by the striker, it will move (some guns will launch it, so watch your eyes) and you likely will see a dent in the hard cap. I use that as a function test after cleaning semi-auto pistols. Also be sure that the firing pin safety is still in the slide and that it can be depressed and springs back.

Can you search for an "exploded" picture or drawing of the BG 2.0? Then you can determine if everything you actually put back is complete.

Thanks for the replies. I did try searching for a parts diagram and the only thing I found was for the bg1. I’ll try the pen idea but it seems like things are good. I was very surprised how loose that back plate fits, I’d expect at least a semi-tight fit.

The firing pin block is held in place by the firing pin, but the extractor is not. It is its own spring, and is held in by a separate pin.
A tip o' the hat to the OP; wasn't getting those sights off about as much fun as you care to have? ;)

Just remember that, as I learned today, when you remove the sights on the BG 2.0, they go out from right to left. The new ones also go in from right to left.

You must be looking down at the slide facing away from you to know from which direction you go from right to left.

Taking them out was probably the most difficult sight removal of any handgun I’ve ever tried.

On a positive note, the XS sights are really nice and easily worth the price. MUCH better sight picture and a much bigger and brighter front dot. Also XS designs the sights so they are easy to install. The front sight has a beveled edge so it’s obvious which side to press it in and the rear sight has a screw post to tighten down once you have it sighted in. Even comes with a tube of loctite to set the sights once they are sighted in.

TLDR: Get the XS sights for your bodyguard 2.0, you won’t regret it. But plan on using a sight pusher, I don’t think I could have done it with a brass punch.
