Had a 3913 that I sold for a mint 6906. I figured since the barrel was the same, the extra weight was a trade off for the extra rounds and ability to use 5906 mags in the 6906. I have been thinking of an even more comfortable gun to carry, though. The 3913 didn't feel much different than the 6906, but is the CS9 such a huge improvement? I see they aren't cheap, generally $500+ for a gun no longer made. How much of a difference is there in carrying IWB between the CS9 and 6906? Are mags impossible to get? I'm thinking of selling a Ruger GP100 4" to fund the new purchase since I have a mint 686 4". I don't like plastic guns, particularly striker fired ones. I like a hammer, TDA operation, and a safety. And I also like the mag disconnect found on S&W autos.

Opinions would be welcomed!

Hi I have a CS9 and it is a dream to carry.I have mine with a strong side hip holster from Gould and Goodrich and you can easily pocket carry it as well. You can get all the parts for it for less than S+W by ordering them thru MidwayUSA — Shooting Supplies, Reloading, Gunsmithing, Hunting, Ammunition, Gun Parts & Rifle Scopes .As long as you don't mind a little wait on backordered product it is the way to go.You can also use the 3913 mag without any functional problems as long as you don't mind extra mag sticking from the bottom. You will find the purchase well worth it......mike

Extra mags are available time to time from CDNN or direct (more expensive) from S&W.

I have a 6906 which I like very much. Like you said when you add the 5906 magazines with +2 adapter...you have lots of firepower there. I bought a CS-9 and it is a very nice gun. I know Cruiser RN has been trying to get me to go with the thinner grips and I will, but my bucks are going other places.

But back to the CS-9 it is so very accurate considering it has such a short barrel. Even with the heavy-bulky grips it would still be a little easier to conceal than the 6906. It's apples and oranges. I like both.

You got to love those 3rd generations Smiths. I also have two CS-40's and a 4006.

The Butt of the 6906 is longer but the same width as the CS9 with the stock rubber grips. It does weigh more. However, the length of the barrel really does not mean much for concealed carry especially in an IWB holster.

I have both and consider each to have a niche in carry/range sport.
