Dark Times Ahead

Recently stopped at Edgewood, NM McD for a coffee.
It's an oddball sized, shape and sited Micky D.
You got to work your way through a Smith Supermarket parking Lot then avoid gas station traffic as you circle to the drive through. Then they informed me they were out of coffee.
What? Hold on, no problem. Civilization has arrived! These rural rowdies have a Starbucks! So I get a superior coffee that costs 4-5 times as much.

The only thing worth eating at McDonalds is the Quarter Pounder - no cheese thank you - supplemented with some of the best fries found at fast food joints....... Yummy... :)

Hallelujah praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
Today I bought a Banquet Backyard BBQ dinner. Paid $1.34 at the Base Commissary.
For that kind of money I feel sure I have eaten bait that tastes better.
But I will it a fair try and report my conclusions.

In the Philippines McD has a balut breakfast sandwich...

....wait, that's a lie.

Navy story - the Carriers and other ships enroute to the Tonkin would stop at Subic Bay.
The tradition came to be - if it was your first Rodeo, you ate a Balut.
The Navy Dude who I heard tell this story said he tried, but his back up faster than it was going down!

'Balut is a fertilized duck or chicken egg that contains a fetus inside the shell. It is a popular delicacy in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, and China. The eggs are boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell. The length of incubation before the egg is cooked is a matter of local preference, but generally ranges from 2 to 3 weeks. The name "balut" comes from the traditional way it was prepared, which is "wrapped" or covered inside bags during its incubation process.'

To bad you guys miss out on the Kiwi burger

Took Ryan into town this afternoon to do some grocery shopping and went through the drive through for his weekly Big Mac dinner.

I saw that they have the Kiwi burger back on the menu.

This is a unique item only available in Kiwiland, and only at irregular times for a limited period.

It is a burger with more salad, beetroot, a fried egg, mayo and barbecue sauce. And I love them. Much juicier than a Big Mac.

I just had to have one for an early dinner. Since finishing it I have been wishing I ordered two.

As for the McRib, they're okay but not a patch on the Kiwi burger.

Let me be the first to declare, without shame or embarrassment, that I LOVE THE MCRIB!

Hey Yaktamer, nobody's holdin' a gun on ya! :D

My son is fond of those things. I think he'd eat two or three at a time, but he's smart enough not to do that. :D When they first came along I tried one. Waaaay too messy for me.

Since Culver's restaurants have started popping up around where I live, I rarely go to a McDonalds anymore, but when I do it's usually just for a snack. I rarely if ever buy one of their (overpriced) "meals." I've been trying to avoid too many French Fries so a fast food restaurant that has soups (other than chili ) is a bonus. Culver's usually has a couple. I like their wild rice soup.
