I posted this in another thread but on the second thought decided that the question deserves a poll of it's own.

I noticed that since handejector took the reins, several new moderators were added to the forum. However none of them hang out frequently in the relo and ammo sections. Perhaps we should petition our new owner to ask one of the cool and experienced heads here to serve as our moderator.

My opinion is there is no need for a specific moderator for these sections. If a member has a problem with a post or posts, there is the little ! icon in the lower right. He can report a post at anytime and if action is necessary, it will be taken.

You didn't like the questions, either

Dennis, I don't understand your agenda question. If you are wondering if I am trying to become a moderator -- no, I am not. Otherwise please expand.

Rewster, if you don't like a question -- don't answer it. Or is that the case when you said "no" to a drink?

Actually, I love polls, latvians, and estonians

I think intelligent handloaders can moderate themselves quite well in this highly technical area.

The only situation I've seen where we may need a moderator is in the example of Hoptob's remark above, a feeble attempt emphasizing that he has something to prove with a dubious agenda. The general moderation function can take care of that.

If I was a poll, latvian or an estonian, I understand.

As to whether a moderator is needed here: they are already lurking here!

In a recent post, http://smith-wessonforum.com/e...70103904/m/48310162, Noah Zark gave a little "spanking" to one of our members. I'm sure if we get out of line far enough it will happen here too.

Just a reminder though, we wouldn't like "black" jokes if we were black nor "honky" jokes if we were white, nor Jewish jokes if we were Jewish and so on .....

Because of the great diversity of our forum it is quite possible for some really neat folks to be not too far removed from having very strong ethnic ties. Some discretion would be advised.

I changed the offending word. Now other ethnic goups will wonder why I don't love them !

I always question the intent of the requester. What’s the motivation? Personality types promoters, pleasers, pragmatists, and controllers. When one knows the motivation of the question and personality type it’s easer to answer the question or just avoid the subject in its entirety.

The moderators are assigned to specific forums. Noah Zark is the moderator for the reloading & ammo sections. But, Lee or Smithnut can also step in to moderate any of the forums if they feel the need to.

I spend most of my time here in the reloading section and I haven't seen much that needed moderation. Everyone seems to moderate themselves for the most part.

Thank you, Roger. You will see that I removed two of my posts above. Handshake?

Way to go, VAdoublegunner. In doubt, attack! Any thoughts on what in my weakness I might be trying to proove? And to whom? You should know because I don't.

There is no hidden agenda, Dennis. It's all out in the open -- I want to know if people feel this section of the forum can use a moderator. As simple as that.

Noah Zark is the moderator for the reloading & ammo sections.
Thanks, Thiokol. No disrespect to Noah was intended in my question -- I simply did not know he was already assigned to these sections.

None taken, Hop. Ammo and reloading have been a passion for over 40 years now. I may not post much but I'm sort of a "stealth" mod and pass through the two forums on a regular basis.

If anyone has a concern with any post or post content at any time, feel free to contact me or any of the other mods, or simply report the post via the board software.

Thanks,

Noah

Good to hear from you, Noah. Just to clarify, I don't have anything to report or complain about. As this thread shows, most of the time we're perfectly capable to resolve our little disagreements without need for intervention. Hope to see you here more often - sharing your experiences, not policing that is.
