Do You Still Have The First S&W You Ever Bought?

8 3/8, 14-4, TT TH TS in 1975 Kellers gun shop for the princely sum of $125. I was barely making that much a week.:):) I don't think I have a pic anywhere but I still have the gun. I've only sold two. A 686 that just didn't fit my profile and a 8 3/8 15-5 that someone offered me way to much money for and turned into an early K22.

DW
I remember Kellers it was were I bought my first handgun in 1973 . I was only 18 so a good friend bought it for me and held it till I turned 21.
It was a Browning High Power for the sum of $250.00 At the time a Colt Python was only $5.00 more.

my first s&w was nothing more than a sd9ve. I wish I still had it, but made the mistake of selling it in order to finance a sig p250, in the same caliber (9mm). Well, not only did I lose money off that, I am sad to say I probably preferred the sd9ve over the p250. I hope to buy another very soon, since they are so economical.

28

Sadly no. Mine was a 28 and it was traded off for something or another, TC contender with 2 bbls IIRC.
I distrust someone who says they are a gun guy but have never sold one. Would you believe someone was into cars if they had every one they ever owned. I tried to keep track of all I had owned but lost count in the 70's. I hope my trades made some folks as happy as they made me feel.

First S & W gun

My first S & W was a 22/32 with a 6 inch bbl. It was given to me by my parents for my 12 th birthday, back in 1958. I still have the gun. Had a lot of fun with it over he years, and my oldest grand son will be shooting it soon.

My first S&W, and a permanent possession, was a very practical automatic that opened my eyes to the world of firearms, a Model 915 purchased on the advice of good friend on this forum who was kind enough to take the time to help me get started.

First, a model 41 heavy barrel, the last a 642 for my wife, and everyone in between. My favorites are all of them but the 686-2 4" and pre 29 6.5" are stand outs.

This 10-5 is my first S&W. I paid $120 at Montgomery Wards for it in 1976. It's the last gun I'd let go.

wish i did. in 1972 i bought a brand new 2.5 inch model 19 for $125 at the long gone san francisco gun exchange.

I purchased a Model 19 (4") and Model 39-2 when I was a 2LT in the US Army at the Post Exchange while stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. I was up there from 1971 to 1973. I used the Model 19 as a side arm when I went bear hunting. I still have the Model 39-2, but I sold my Model 19 to my brother who still has that revolver. I later opted for a Model 66 in the late 1970s which I sold about 10 years later to help finance daughter's higher education. I have never replaced that stainless steel .357, but I look forward to doing that soon.

I plan to put a Peter Stahl .22 conversation on my Model 39-2 soon. I have Sile custom walnut target grips designed for the Model 52 to put on it. It should be something special when I get all that done.

The first one I BOUGHT was rusted beyond repair in a flooded basement. The first one Given to me by my father I still have.

Sure do. Model 25-2 that I bought at a show in Will Rogers in Ft. Worth. I think in 1978. I still have the display case, too.

The first S&W I actually purchased was a SD9ve but sold it when a gentleman in our club made me a nice offer to take it off my hands. The first one I owned is a 686-2 that I inherited when my first wife passed away in 2008 and it would take a rather large offer for me to let go of it.

Picked this up for my first LE academy at "Boots and Guns" in Monroe, WI. Still have original Target Stocks, Box, Papers, and receipt.

Model 19, .357mag, 6" barrel.........30 years ago......don't have it anymore.

I still regret selling off my first S&W when I got rid of most of my accumulation in 1991. A mdl 36 three inch square butt with "thin" barrel bought at hardware store for $81 in 1971. I carried it for 20yrs in a Hunter holster while hiking and 4 wheeling
