Here we go again NO AMMUNITION

IF... if things cool down
Well, that's the real trick, isn't it? :o

On a somewhat encouraging note, I checked prices online Sunday morning, on a whim. Most things were the same as always, but I came across LAX selling 9mm "range grade" reloads at $134.95 per 500, with an ammo can. Let me order 2, with a code to take additional 5% off. Tax and shipping still pushed it over $300, but I've used them before and think I might trust a known reloader over an unknown brand.

For those bad with math (like me), that was $12.82 a box of 50, prior to taxes and (high) shipping.
I suspect I'll get loose ammo in each can, instead of boxed. But the cans themselves might be worth a couple bucks (who knows, maybe I will get a couple 30 cal USGI cans?).

I caught that one also...

The people who buy up 2,000 primers when they see them and already have 12,000 at home they don't use are part of the problem.

Those people need to up their game if they only have 12k on hand. At a hundred rounds a week, they'll be out in about 2 years. I'm not confident primers will be readily available in 2 years.

The guys with 40,000 rounds, and often hoping for high prices for under the table sales

Unless a person only expects to live another 8 years, 40K isn't enough.

Obviously there are limits to what a person can realistically stockpile but I'm not confident that the ammo/component supply will improve.

Was advised to run 500 45ACP daily for one year to get the basics under my belt by the OIC/Colonel of the Base Pistol Team.

20k rounds of 22LR can quickly disappear when our kids became of age.
20K of 5.56 as well in the Colts.
The list goes on as we also load and there was 10 flights of Trap each week to gain the skills over a 6 month span times two of us.

Do the math as it is part of getting to be Well Regulated besides just plain old fun family fun. :D

Archery is great as well as airguns in the backyard 20 yard area.

Hoarding dollars ain't easy but spending them in this manner....
priceless.

When someone says, thank you for your service", I always reply, thanks for paying your fair share of taxes".

How many bricks of match grade ammo can a smallbore shooter run thru in practice so Airmen always out X the other Military Services?
We always bought them a Coors beer so they got a taste of something Golden. :D

Just kidding as my new screen name is OuttaAmmo. ;)

Will trade Lat/Lons of productive fishing areas in the Keys for Primers.

I might be seeing the future as foretold by DragonBoy. :D

The problem with these arguments is that the line between "willing to pay" and "able to get" becomes blurred. Everything is available right now. You couldn't say that a year ago. Right now I could back my truck up to the LGS door and load it with primers until the springs sag if I want to pay $125 per 1000. A year ago I could walk into the same store with a fist full of Benjamin's and ask for primers and the owner would send me away. If you want to shoot and you don't mind paying, then you should buy what you need. If you don't feel comfortable without 100000 rounds in your gun room, by all means, buy it. On the other hand, if you need to save or make money, shooting is probably a good activity to stay away from.

Why would it be necessary to blow though a hundred rounds per week when future supply may be questionable?

I swear, some people blow more ammo in a weekend than my Grandfather did in his entire lifetime of hunting and living on a farm.

Because golf is boring. :D

On a serious note, as the three slices of Key Lime Pie throttle back, and the Turkey is roasting.... have been low volume shooter for some time and saving the components for letting people run 5 on the 460s when our Rogue Wave grip demos occur.
Fun shared.

Hunting and shooting are two different things. If you participate in any type of shooting competition, 100 rounds is nothing. I don't even need a gun to hunt.

Seriously anyone who needs to shoot 500 rounds daily for a year to get the basics down on one of the most easiest guns to shoot ,Should maybe switch to archery.

Sounds like production needs to increase. All of the “when it calms down, we’re stuck with idle equipment” needs to stop. Either conglomerate is so big, idle equipment wouldn’t be an issue for a while, just make something else.

Think how much more money vista and olin could have raked in during all of this scare nonsense if they had the extra lines going churning out the tubular dollars.

Who am I to decide how much ammo another person should "blow through"?

It all depends on a persons confidence level that the supply is not going to dry up again, at any price. Mine is very low.

Well, I don't have total confidence that we're going to be able to avoid WW3

So... There’s that I guess.

If you participate in any type of shooting competition, 100 rounds is nothing.

An absolutely optional activity that can be easily suspended when ammunition or components are unavailable or too expensive. Such a suspension is far from a national crisis.
