I grew up and still live in East Tn near the mountains. The seasons are more moderate than when I was a kid in the 50’s and 60’s. The winters are much milder with very little if any snow and rarely zero temps. Our summers are milder as well overall. There are freak years like this but it’s rare. This year we’ve had pretty normal rain and typical spring temps or possibly a touch higher but not enough to notice. The unusual thing was our daffodils were in full bloom in early February. Usually they bloom the end of Feb.
The last several years our weather has been very mild temps with the perfect rainfall. Our hottest months are the end of July and mainly August with hot temps extending a couple of weeks into September. We rarely hit 100 and 90’s have held off until later July. This has been great for the farmers around here.
This year is a fluke, I’ve seen crazy weather before, cold and wet as well as extremely hot and dry. We have a saying here, if you don’t like the weather just wait 5 minutes.
We’re looking at temps in the 90’s and up to 101 in the next few weeks then it’s expected to cool down. I personally love the warmth though and I feel better because it makes my arthritis feel better.
Stay cool and drink plenty of water. Pace yourself! Heat creeps up on you and will get you before you know it.
Earlier this week it was 100 degrees. I got to spend a few hours out in the sun working in a thick rubber hazmat suit. Just imagine how much fun that is.
Went out to get the paper this morning at 8.30 it was 49 degrees at my house. From what the weather guesser said on the news a couple places a bit north of me were in the mid 30s, and one place that I missed its location had some snow.
102 in the shade on the back porch this afternoon, the hottest I've seen it here so far. 70% humidity doesn't help a bit, but, the slight breeze does.
I know, before too long we'll be complaining about the cold!
I’m currently up here in Plymouth Indiana, was in the 50’s a couple nights, 70’s during the day. No humidity, Almost heaven at the lake in Culver yesterday except for the massive Father’s Day crowd. Joe
I'm not gonna complain. Ruthie texted me and said that some of the elderly dementia/Alzheimer's residents have the heat cranked up in their rooms. It helps them with arthritis and joint pain but she says it is hard for her to breath in there.
There is a thunder shower with wind gusts here currently so it is cooling down.
